An automatic drug delivery device, for dispensing a fluid medicament, includes: a longitudinal housing; a removable cap; a syringe assembly having a hollow syringe body and an injection needle; and a drive mechanism. The loaded drive mechanism is operatively coupled with a safety shield movable within the longitudinal housing. The safety shield is biased into a proximal position in which it protrudes out of the proximal end of the longitudinal housing in order to cover a needle tip of the injection needle. The safety shield is movable into a distal position in which the injection needle is exposed for injection. The device includes a feedback mechanism providing a visual feedback to the user indicating an actual state of operation. The feedback mechanism includes a visual indicator which appears in a transparent window on the distal end of the housing.

Automatic drug delivery device

At least one hand-held injection device for the metered injection of a liquid drug into a person's tissue is disclosed. The exemplary injection device comprises an elongated drug reservoir having a longitudinal reservoir axis (A), an elongated dosing unit having a dosing unit inlet, a dosing unit outlet, and a metering cavity, the dosing unit having a longitudinal dosing unit axis (A'), the elongated drug reservoir being fluidically coupled to the dosing unit inlet. The dosing unit and the drug reservoir are arranged such that the longitudinal dosing unit axis (A&#x2032;) is in parallel alignment with the reservoir axis (A). The dosing unit structured to allow the flow of the liquid drug from the drug reservoir into the metering cavity via the dosing unit inlet, thus charging the metering cavity, and to subsequently discharge the metering cavity by dosing drug out of the metering cavity into the dosing unit outlet.

Hand-held injection devices and methods of use

An injection device for injecting a fluid into an organism, in particular a human or animal body, which can comprise a fluid providing section including a container for storing the fluid and a supply means for supplying the fluid. The fluid injecting section for injecting the fluid provided by the fluid providing section into the organism includes a catheter means and is characterized by the fluid injecting section being provided with a pressure recognition arrangement which can be located close to and/or in the catheter means for detecting a pressure increase and/or a pressure loss.

Flow control valves for leakage detection, free-flow prevention and occlusion detection

A compact and one time use, self-administration device () for administering medication is disclosed. The device includes a housing () having a start button (), a status indicator (), a window (), and a surface removably attachable to a user. The device () has a cartridge holder () providing in an aseptic environment a cartridge () containing the medication. The cartridge () is viewable through the cartridge holder () and the window (). An included drive unit () provides a movable plunger () that breaks through a sterile barrier () of the cartridge holder () to dispense the medication from the cartridge () to an hollow needle () for administering the medication into the user. The device () provides means () for extending and retracting the hollow needle () and an electronic control unit () which controls the drive unit (), the extending and retracting means (), and interfaces with the start button (), the status indicator (), and the body sensor () to automatically administer the medication.
