A reverse vending machine has an insertion area for inserting an object into the inside of the reverse vending machine, a transport unit for transporting the object in a transport area along a transport axis and an arrangement of cameras for capturing images of the object from several capturing directions. The image capturing direction of each camera is directed toward the transport area. Further, the cameras are arranged outside the transport area and not below the transport area.

A method for computer-aided recognition of a transport container being empty is provided. The method includes capturing image data of a region of the transport container; determining a contour pattern, which represents the transport container, using the image data; determining a deviation variable, which represents a deviation of the contour pattern from at least one reference pattern, wherein the at least one reference pattern represents an empty transport container; and outputting a signal if the deviation variable satisfies a predefined criterion.

A reception system for receiving objects comprises at least one reception device for receiving objects, a conveyor device, which has at least one conveyor belt section for conveying objects in a conveyance direction in the at least one reception device, and a sensor device, which is arranged on the at least one reception device, for detecting objects in the at least one reception device. It is provided in this case that the sensor device is designed to emit sensor signals along different signal paths over the reception device, to conclude a fill level of the reception device on the basis of an interaction of at least one of the sensor signals with objects conveyed into the reception device. A packing bay system for a goods checkout system has several packing bays for taking up goods, a conveying device which includes at least one conveyor belt section for conveying goods in a conveying direction, and a goods switch which is adjustably arranged on the conveying device and includes a diverting wall longitudinally extending along a direction of longitudinal extension. In a first position, the goods switch with the diverting wall extends at an angle to the conveying direction across the at least one conveyor section, in order to guide goods which on conveyance in the conveying direction get in contact with the diverting wall in a diverting direction directed parallel to the direction of longitudinal extension from the at least one conveyor section towards a first packing bay. The goods switch is adjustable from the first position into a second position.
