A housing () for an exhaust gas-treating device () of an exhaust system of an internal combustion engine includes a jacket () closed in the circumferential direction for mounting at least one exhaust gas-treating element (. A dashpot with an inner cylinder ( ) accommodated in an outer cylinder ( ), and a piston ( ) traveling back and forth inside on the end of a piston rod ( ) and separating the inner cylinder into two chambers ( & ).
