An electrical appliance including a housing containing an electric motor and a storage battery pack for energizing the electric motor at an operating voltage of more than 42 volts. The storage battery pack includes a plurality of storage battery cells electrically connected so as to form at least two cell groups having a cell voltage of less than 42 volts. A connector assembly includes a bridge circuit configured to electrically connect the cell groups with each other so as to provide the operating voltage of more than 42 volts while establishing electrical connection between the storage battery pack and the electric motor.

An upright vacuum cleaner for cleaning a surface includes an upper body with a dust collection container received therein and a base unit with a front portion with respect to the travel direction of the vacuum cleaner. At least one electrical load is disposed in the front portion of the base unit. A carriage is provided to move the base unit on the surface. The vacuum cleaner includes a tilting joint operable to provide relative tilting between the upper body and the base unit about a tilting axis that is horizontal when the vacuum cleaner is in a position of use. At least one cable is routed between the upper body and the at least one electrical load. A plurality of cable ducts are disposed in the vicinity of the tilting axis and configured to receive the at least one cable.

A suction nozzle for a vacuum cleaner that can be connected to a suction pipe and/or a suction tube of the vacuum cleaner includes a nozzle part that can be connected to the suction pipe or the suction tube by means of a tubular connection part. A dust sensor is arranged in the flow path of the vacuum cleaner, the signals thereof being evaluated by a battery-operated electronic control device that can be activated by a low-pressure switch. During operation, said control device controls a display device displaying the dust flow. The control device, the low-pressure switch, the display elements displaying the dust flow, and a battery compartment for receiving the batteries are arranged in a housing formed on the upper side of the tubular connection part. The dust sensor is arranged beneath the housing, inside the upper region of the connection part, in the dust air stream.
