Controlling activation of an autonomous navigation function of a vehicle is provided. A system can include a data processing system with one or more processors, coupled to memory. The data processing system can determine, based on data collected from a vehicle and using a machine learning model trained on historical driving data associated with a driver of the vehicle and a driver having a driver profile corresponding to the historical driving data, that a vehicle controller of the vehicle is configured to autonomously navigate the vehicle through a scenario, facilitate, based on the collected data and the trained model, display of a prompt at the vehicle to activate autonomous navigation of the vehicle for the scenario, and upon receiving an indication of activation from the driver, provide instructions to the vehicle controller to perform autonomous driving control through the scenario, thereby reducing likelihood of error and lowering insurance premiums.

Disclosed embodiments include systems, vehicles, and computer-implemented methods for selectively restricting a performance attribute of a vehicle for an operator or group of operators. In an illustrative embodiment, a computing device includes a processor and computer-readable media configured to store computer-executable instructions configured to cause the processor to: identify an operating credential associated with an operator of a vehicle; determine a performance mode associated with the operating credential; and restrict at least one performance attribute of the vehicle in accordance with the performance mode.

Example illustrations herein are directed to systems and methods for determining whether a vehicle driver meets a seat belt criteria based upon a detection of each of a set of seat belt conditions. In an example, the set of conditions includes at least the vehicle driver occupying a driver seat of the vehicle, expiration of a minimum delay time after the vehicle driver is occupying the driver seat, and an engagement of a driver's seat belt latch with a corresponding buckle after the expiration of the minimum delay time, and a positioning of a driver's seat belt on a shoulder of the vehicle driver. The method may also include enabling a first vehicle feature if the vehicle driver meets the seat belt criteria. The first vehicle feature may be disabled if the vehicle driver does not meet the seat belt criteria.

Camera control systems and methods for providing a dynamic view of the environment outside of a vehicle are presented. One or more cameras are configured to capture at least one view of the environment outside of the vehicle. Control circuitry detects at least one of the speed of the vehicle and the pitch angle of the vehicle (e.g., by using a speedometer and inclinometer). The control circuitry selects a view angle based on the at least one of the speed of the vehicle and the pitch angle of the vehicle. The control circuitry then displays, based on an output of the at least one camera, a view of the environment outside of the vehicle from the selected view angle on a display of the vehicle.

Systems and methods for controlling a vehicle camera

A vehicle camera arrangement, including: a camera mounting assembly coupled to a structure of a vehicle adjacent to a lower portion of a windshield of the vehicle; and a camera assembly coupled to the camera mounting assembly having visibility through the lower portion of the windshield of the vehicle. The structure of the vehicle is associated with a dashboard of the vehicle. The camera mounting assembly includes a sealing member disposed between a front portion thereof and the lower portion of the windshield of the vehicle. The vehicle camera arrangement further includes an air duct adapted to deliver an air flow to a front portion of the camera mounting assembly and the camera assembly through the structure of the vehicle.

Various disclosed embodiments include methods of locating an intended passenger of an automotive vehicle and vehicle-based systems for locating an intended passenger of an automotive vehicle. In an illustrative embodiment, a method of locating an intended passenger of an automotive vehicle includes: moving an automotive vehicle to an approximate location of an intended passenger based on a location signal from the intended passenger received via a wireless network; after moving to the approximate location of the intended passenger, receiving, by the vehicle, an image from an electronic device of the intended passenger, the image being an image of the intended passenger or an image of local physical surroundings of the intended passenger; processing the image to determine additional location information of the intended passenger based on matching the image against one or more reference images; and accepting by the vehicle, the intended passenger responsive to the image processing.

Vehicle rideshare localization and passenger identification for autonomous vehicles

Methods, systems, and media for controlling access to vehicle features are provided. In some embodiments, the method comprises: determining identifying information of a driver of a vehicle; receiving an indication that the driver wants to activate a feature of the vehicle; determining whether the driver is qualified to activate the feature based on the identifying information; in response to determining that the driver is not qualified to activate the feature, inhibiting activation of the feature and causing a user interface to be presented that indicates that the feature cannot be used; and in response to determining that the driver is qualified to activate the feature, activating the feature.

Systems and methods are described for monitoring awareness of a vehicle occupant. An approach may involve connecting, by the vehicle, to a wireless device of the vehicle occupant, receiving, by the vehicle, a signal from the wireless device indicative of activity of the vehicle occupant and processing the signal to determine a level of awareness of the vehicle occupant, determining whether the level of awareness of the vehicle occupant satisfies a threshold, and generating, by the vehicle, an alert based upon whether the level of awareness of the vehicle occupant satisfies the threshold.
