A flat gasket for sealing a seal gap between engine component sealing faces wherein the flat gasket comprises at least one first and second gasket layer adjacent to the first gasket layer, wherein at least one elastomeric sealing element is disposed at the first gasket layer and is formed from a sealing material which is applied to the first gasket layer and can be cured in situ, wherein at least one cut-out is provided at the second gasket layer, through which cut-out the elastomeric sealing element extends when the flat gasket is in the fitted pressed state, and wherein the flat gasket comprises at least one overflow space which receives excess, as yet uncured sealing material during assembly of the flat gasket and is disposed at least partly laterally next to the sealing element when the flat gasket is in the unfitted, unpressed state.

Flat gasket with a gasket plate comprising at least one sheet metal layer, at least one fluid through-opening to be sealed, and a plurality of screw through-openings, the sheet metal layer having at least one supporting element for receiving pressing forces, and the supporting element being in the form of a bead stamped into the sheet metal layer; in order to improve the durability of the supporting bead while in operation, the bead is designed so as to form with its bead crest, in a plan view of the sheet metal layer, an endless continuous line closed within itself, so that the bead does not have any free bead ends.

In order to produce a multi-layer gasket which comprises at least one first layer and one second layer and at least one connecting arrangement for connecting the layers of the gasket together wherein the layers of the gasket are connected together in a simple and reliable manner, it is proposed that the connecting arrangement should comprise at least one retaining element connected to the first layer and at least one through opening arranged in the second layer, wherein the retaining element and a retention area of the second layer partially overlap one another in an unconnected state of the layers, wherein, for the purposes of connecting the layers, the retaining element is deformable from the plane of the first layer and can be moved past the retention area, and wherein the retaining element grips behind the retention area of the second layer in a connected state of the layers in such a manner that the first layer and the second layer are safeguarded from a separating movement of the layers.

Multi-layer gasket and method for connecting the layers of a multi-layer gasket

Elongate cylinder head gasket for a multicylinder engine comprising a chain case, with a chain case part which is to be mounted following clamping of the gasket and is guided for displacement parallel to the plane of the gasket; in order that the cylinder head gasket will not be damaged at its one narrow side when inserting this chain case part, the outer edge area of a center narrow side portion on this narrow side is bent out of the plane of the gasket, more particularly, in a direction which points away from the chain case part which is to be inserted.

Flat gasket for sealing a sealing gap between sealing surfaces of machine components which are pressable against the flat gasket, the flat gasket having a gasket plate formed by several sheet metal layers and provided with at least one elastomeric sealing element in an area serving to seal a sealing gap area in which the component sealing surfaces lead to a locally varying sealing surface pressure at the flat gasket, the sealing element being arranged on a first one of the sheet metal layers and, in the mounted state of the flat gasket, extending through a cutout in a second sheet metal layer forming a first one of the main surfaces of the gasket plate; in order that the sealing element can already be applied by the gasket manufacturer, but, nevertheless, is protected against damage in the course of assembly of the machine components, the gasket is so designed that the sealing element is in the form of a sealing element formed from a material which is applied to the first sheet metal layer and is curable in situ, and the sealing element is pressed through the cutout of the second sheet metal layer only when clamping the gasket between the component sealing surfaces.

Flat gasket with a gasket plate formed by a sheet metal layer for sealing a sealing gap between sealing surfaces of machine components, the gasket plate being provided with an elastomeric sealing element in an area in which the component sealing surfaces lead to a locally varying sealing surface pressure; in order that the sealing element can already be applied by the gasket manufacturer and will not be subjected to the danger of damage during installation of the gasket, a sealing element formed from a material curable in situ is applied to a first main surface of the sheet metal layer, and the sheet metal layer is provided with a cutout for passage of the curable sealing element material therethrough so that the sealing element material passes through this cutout and comes to rest against the adjacent component sealing surface only after installation of the gasket.
