An automatic transmission of a motor vehicle driven by an internal combustion engine with a transmission oil circuit, a main oil pump, mechanically driven by a combustion engine, and an auxiliary oil pump () that can be electrically driven and is located inside an oil sump (). It is proposed that the auxiliary oil pump () is arranged transversely with respect to the travel direction (x) of the motor vehicle.

Automatic transmission for a motor vehicle

A method of operating a motor vehicle drivetrain having, along a power flow, an internal combustion engine, a clutch, an electric motor, a transmission and a drive output. The transmission is associated with a main and auxiliary hydraulic pumps, and an internal or an external starting element. When the engine is at rest and the clutch and starting element are both disengaged, to start with the electric motor, with the brake pedal actuated, the auxiliary hydraulic pump is operated at a first power level to supply the transmission with pressure for maintaining a defined gear. Then, upon recognizing a desire to start, the auxiliary hydraulic pump is changed from a first to a second power level to supply pressure to the transmission to produce starting torque and, only after lapse of a time interval, is the speed of the motor increased to produce the desired starting power or torque.

Method for operating a drivetrain

A method for controlling the oil supply device of an automatic planetary transmission, having a main oil pump and an auxiliary oil pump. The transmission is part of a parallel hybrid vehicle powertrain. To supply oil to the transmission as needed, the current oil requirement of the transmission is determined depending on at least one current operating parameter. The auxiliary pump delivery rate is set by actuating the electric motor, in the combustion and combined driving mode below a minimum main oil pump input speed and in the electric driving mode to at least the total oil requirement, and at least in the combined driving mode above the minimum main oil pump input speed is set to at least the residual oil requirement exceeding the delivery rate of the main oil pump.
