A pivotally or foldably mounted belt end fitting device is provided to secure a seatbelt. The belt end fitting device minimally obstructs and/or disturbs a vehicle passenger, in particular when the passenger is getting into or out of a rear seat of the vehicle.

Belt end fitting device

A seat belt-deflecting device which has a simple and cost-effective construction. The deflecting device includes at least one holding body on which a deflecting element is held. The seat belt is deflected about the deflecting axis of the deflecting element. The deflecting device also includes a belt-deflecting edge which is formed by the shaping of the holding body and about which the seat belt of the motor vehicle is additionally deflected in the direction of the vehicle occupant. The deflecting axis of the deflecting element and the deflecting edge forming an acute angle with respect to each other.

Belt-deflecting device for a seat belt

A fastening device for a seat belt comprising at least one belt-force-limiting element which, in the event of an accident, limits the retaining force acting on a person protected by the seat belt by enabling the seat belt to yield to a predetermined extent. The belt-force-limiting element includes a wire-unwinding device from which at least one wire can be pulled out on exertion of a predetermined tensile force, and one end of the seat belt is connected indirectly or directly to the at least one wire in such a manner that the at least one wire is pulled out of the wire-unwinding device as soon as the retaining force exerted by the seat belt on the occupant reaches or exceeds the predetermined tensile force.

Fastening device for a seat belt

A belt force limiter which limits the belt force through the twisting of a torsion bar. The belt force limiter includes a flange, a reel for winding and unwinding the belt, as well as the torsion bar. Additionally, a shear pin or a deformable pin may be provided for locking the flange and the reel together, so that the relative turning of the flange and reel is prevented or impeded until the tensile force acting on the belt exceeds a preset level momentarily or over a preset period of time. Thus the force limitation is delayed or graduated. Furthermore, in a method for reducing the danger of injury to a vehicle's occupant by means of a restraining system the belt force is allowed to increase to an elevated level of force and then the belt force diminishes again before the belt force limitation begins.

Seat belt force limiter

A belt reel has a spindle having a main body portion and a relatively rotatable end member that can be latched to a fixed frame upon triggering of an activation device. The main body portion of the spindle is formed with a bore which is filled with hydraulic fluid. The spindle further includes a force-limiting element which cooperates with the hydraulic fluid in the bore to produce a resistance against which the spindle body must be rotated when the relatively rotatable end member is latched to the frame.
