Various illustrative handheld surface cleaners and methods of using handheld surface cleaners are provided. In an exemplary implementation, the handheld surface cleaner is configured to use suction to draw debris into the handheld surface cleaner. The suction also causes air to be drawn into the handheld surface cleaner. The handheld surface cleaner is configured to separate the air and the debris on board the handheld surface cleaner to allow the air to exit the handheld surface cleaner and to allow the debris to be collected in the handheld surface cleaner for later disposal.

A surface cleaning device may include a nozzle, a dust cup, a suction motor configured to draw air into the nozzle and through the dust cup, and a first deodorizer coupled to the nozzle, the first deodorizer includes a deodorizing composition having a long chain fatty acid.

A surface cleaning head may include a fluid distributor configured to distribute a cleaning fluid, an agitator configured to absorb at least a portion of the distributed cleaning fluid and to agitate debris on the surface to be cleaned, a fluid stripper configured to remove, from the agitator, at least a portion of the distributed cleaning fluid absorbed by the agitator, a debris container, and a removable cover. The debris container may include a solid debris chamber and a fluid debris chamber. The removable cover may include a fluid catch plate configured to transfer at least a portion of the cleaning fluid removed from the agitator by the fluid stripper to the fluid debris chamber, the fluid catch plate being configured to selectively transition between an in-use position and a cleaning position when the removable cover is removed from the surface cleaning head.

A bypass valve may include a body defining a dirty air passageway, a nozzle coupling port configured to fluidly couple the dirty air passageway to a nozzle of the surface cleaning device, a wand coupling port configured to fluidly couple the dirty air passageway to a wand of the surface cleaning device, a suction coupling port configured to fluidly couple the dirty air passageway with a suction motor of the surface cleaning device, a wand receptacle configured to removably couple to the wand, and a valve bypass arrangement configured to selectively redirect air flowing through the body such that a majority of the air flowing through the body transitions between flowing through one of the wand coupling port and the nozzle coupling port. The valve bypass arrangement redirects the air in response to the wand being coupled to or decoupled from the wand receptacle.
