A computer-implemented system and method for updating user interest profiles is provided. An interest profile having a mapping of interest categories and interest scores for each interest category is obtained. User generated items are identified from online profiles and a portion of the user generated items are associated with a time stamp. A similarity mapping is performed by comparing each user generated item with each interest category. An interest index score is determined for each interest category based on one of the user generated items compared. A threshold is applied to the interest index scores for each category. The interest score associated with one such category in the mapping is replaced with the interest index score, when the interest index score for that category is above the threshold. The interest profile is adjusted by applying a decay to those interest index scores associated with time stamps determined for the categories.

A computer-implemented system and method for facilitating communication via an audio centric network are provided. A plurality of drivers are monitored, and a location of at least one of the drivers is determined. A social bubble comprising a network of other drivers proximate to the driver is determined based on the identified location. A system and method for prioritizing messages based on message importance is provided. Messages from one or more senders are received for a recipient. For each message, an identity of the sender is determined. A determination is made as to whether each message includes a request for an action to be performed. Also, a length of time required to read that message is determined for each message. An importance value for each message is then calculated based on the identity of the sender, whether a request is included in the message, and the length of time to read the message. Those messages with high importance values are identified as high priority messages and are provided to the recipient.

A quitting-intention estimating system facilitates detecting an entity's intention to quit an organization. During operation, the system obtains recent electronic-communication information associated with the entity under investigation, such as an employee of a corporation, or a volunteer of a non-profit organization. The system can determine the entity's quitting intention by determining a plurality of recent communication features from the electronic-communication information, for example, by using a variety of feature-extracting modules that extract the features from the entity's electronic communications. The system then computes a quitting-intention value for the entity under investigation, using a quitting-intention estimating function that takes the recent communication features as input. The quitting-intention estimating function detects a change in the entity's behavior from previous communication features, and generates a quitting-intention value which indicates a likelihood that the change in the entity's behavior corresponds to an intention to quit the organization.

One embodiment of the present invention provides a system for detecting anomalous correlations between public and private activities of a user. During operation, the system collects public and private activity data associated with the user. The system generates a series of feature pairs, each feature pair including a public feature vector and a private feature vector generated from the activity data. Each respective feature pair corresponds to a respective point in time. The system generates a model to determine whether there is an anomaly in a correlation between the user's public and private activity data. The model is associated with a normal correlation between the user's public and private activity data over a period of time. The system collects additional public and private activity data and applies the model to determine whether there is an anomaly. The system may issue an alert in response to detecting an anomaly.

One embodiment of the present invention provides a system for assisting a user in recovering from a task interruption. During operation, the system records the user's activity while the user is performing a task, and detects an interruption to the task. Upon the detection of the interruption, the system transfers to a storage the recorded user activities during a predetermined time period before the interruption. The system presents a visual representation of the recorded activities to the user, thereby assisting the user in recovering from the task interruption.

System and method for flexibly taking actions upon activation of defined triggers

A relationship visualization system displays contextual information for a relationship between two entities of a document management system, such as for a user and a document. The system can receive a request for a relationship visualization from a user, such that the request indicates the user and a document. Then, the system determines, from a multipartite graph, a set of relationship paths coupling entity nodes that correspond to the user and the document. A relationship path can include one or more entity nodes indicating contextual information for the relationship between the user and the document. Then, the system selects a first group of entity nodes from the set of relationship paths to represent the relationship between the user and the document. The system then provides a relationship visualization that displays contextual information from the first group of entity nodes to illustrate the relationship between the user and the document.

A computer-implemented system and method for generating an interest profile for a user from user generated content on existing online profiles is provided. Interest categories are maintained in a database and each interest category is associated with an initial interest index score. User generated items are selected from an existing online profile and each user generated item is associated with a weight. For each user generated item, similarity mapping is performed with each of the interest categories in the database by extracting artifacts from each user generated item, calculating an artifact similarity score for each of the extracted artifacts, obtaining a user generated item similarity score for the user generated item, and determining a current interest index score for the user generated item. An interest profile for the user is generated by applying the current interest index score to the interest category.
