An elevator system includes a car and/or a counterweight connected to a belt having a plurality of ribs. The elevator system further has at least two deflecting elements over which the belt is guided and which each have a plurality of grooves. The grooves of at least one of the deflecting elements are configured with geometries that differ from the grooves of another of the deflecting elements. The belt has longitudinal ribs that cooperate with the grooves.

A suspension member arrangement for an elevator includes a suspension member having a plurality of electrically conductive load-bearing cords commonly embedded in an electrically isolating matrix material, a first connector and a second connector each attached to the suspension member and electrically contacting the cords within the suspension member in a contacted end region thereof. The first connector electrically contacts and electrically interconnects in parallel a first group of the cords being a first plurality of directly neighboring ones of the cords. The second connector electrically contacts and electrically interconnects in parallel a second group of the cords being a second plurality of directly neighboring ones of the cords. The suspension member arrangement facilitates electrically contacting the cords of the suspension member using a simple type of connector whereby deteriorations in characteristics of the suspension member can be electrically detected with high accuracy.

Suspension member arrangement for an elevator and monitoring arrangement for monitoring a suspension member

A monitoring device for a suspension-and-traction apparatus of an elevator system that includes at least one electrically conductive cord contains a measurement apparatus for determining a resulting resistance. The measurement apparatus is connected to the cord with contacting elements contacting opposite ends of cord. Damage to the suspension-and-traction apparatus is detected by a contact point that can register protruding conductive parts of the cord and, in another embodiment, the contacting elements each contain a plurality of mutually differing resistance elements such that each of at least two electrically conductive cords of the suspension-and-traction apparatus is connected to the monitoring device through two of the resistance elements.

Monitoring a suspension and traction means of an elevator system

An elevator installation can comprise an elevator cage, a counterweight, a first support, a second support, a drive for driving of drive pulleys in common and for movement of the supports, and a monitoring device with two slack support switches. A first slack support switch is arranged in the region of a first fastening point for monitoring the first support. A second slack support switch is arranged diagonally opposite in the region of another fastening point for monitoring the second support. The monitoring device comprises a safety circuit, in which the two slack support switches are so integrated in a safety circuit of the elevator installation that actuation of just one of the two slack support switches interrupts the safety circuit.
