A flexible attachment assembly is described having a bellows capable of absorbing torsion having a first end; a second end opposite to the first end; and a plurality of tubes, each of which is hollow and wound around a longitudinal axis while extending from the first end to the second end, where the plurality of tubes are communicated with each other all along the longitudinal length of the bellows so as to form a bore between the first end and the second end. Also provided is a bellows assembly having at least two sections, each section having a plurality of tubes, each of which is hollow and wound around a longitudinal axis and thus form a bore, where the plurality of sections are connected with each other so that their bores are communicated.

Torsionally flexible attachment system and method

A method and apparatus for implementing an ultra-high stability long-vertical travel stage are provided. The ultra-high stability long-vertical travel stage includes a first wedge supporting a second wedge, each wedge formed of a selected stable material having predefined rigidity and low thermal expansion coefficient, and integrated air bearings. A linear guiding mechanism includes a plurality of flexures. The first wedge is driven in a plane providing vertical motion on the second wedge with the integrated air bearings lifted and the flexures allowing for movement.

Method and apparatus for implementing ultra-high stability long-vertical travel stage

The invention provides a method for collimating a radiation beam, the method comprising subjecting the beam to a collimator that yaws and pitches, either separately or simultaneously relative to the incident angle of the beam. Also provided is a system for collimating radiation beams, the system comprising a collimator body, and a stage for pitching and yawing the body. A feature of the invention is that a single, compact mask body defines one or a plurality of collimators having no moving surfaces relative to each other, whereby the entire mask body is moved about a point in space to provide various collimator opening dimensions to oncoming radiation beams.

Radiation beam collimation system and method

Active optics apparatus and method for aligning active optics are provided for a high-resolution, active optic fluorescence analyzer combining a large acceptance solid angle with wide energy tunability. A plurality of rows of correctors selectively controlled to bend an elongated strip of single crystal material like Si (400) into substantially any precisely defined shape. A pair of pushers engages opposite ends of the silicon crystal strip exert only a force along the long axis of the crystal strip, and does not induce additional bending moments which would result in a torsion of the crystal.
