Certain embodiments of the present invention provide for a system for communication between a controller and a power supply using a communication interface. In an embodiment, a communication system includes a power supply having one or more diagnostics. The communication system also includes a controller, configured for controlling the power supply and monitoring the one or more diagnostics of the power supply. In addition, the communication system includes a communication interface, configured to receive from the controller and send from the power supply one or more signals. The communication system also includes a load, configured to operate using the power provided by said power supply.

A method of testing a portable x-ray device includes sensing an environmental stimulus experienced by the portable x-ray device, transmitting a signal related to the environmental stimulus to a processing unit, determining whether the signal meets an alert threshold, activating a detector of the portable x-ray device if the signal meets the alert threshold, producing a gray image through the activating step, comparing the gray image produced through the activating step with a control gray image corresponding to a properly functioning detector.

Certain embodiments of the present invention include a method, system, and apparatus for improved stabilization in solid state x-ray detectors. A method for detecting x-rays includes providing a top layer including an exterior surface and interior surface. The interior surface of the top layer is substantially electrically non-dissipative. The method also includes providing an electrical ground path and an electrically dissipative layer adjacent to the interior surface of the top layer. The electrically dissipative layer is capable of facilitating discharge of static charge from the interior surface of the top layer to the electrical ground path.

The present invention relates to a system and method by which the magnitude of an interfering electrical and/or magnetic field may be sampled locally (in the X-ray detector for example) and reduced or eliminated. More specifically, embodiments comprise a system and method by which an interfering field may be sampled within the same orientation as the X-ray detector panel, and then subtracted out of each respective element sample.
