The present invention relates to a process for the insertion and conveying of a labile additive, or a mixture thereof, in a transporting pipe, in which a main stream of molten material flows, said process characterized in that it incorporates said additive, or said mixture, in a portion of the pipe delimited by the main stream, according to one of the following alternative modes: a) in a longitudinal direction with respect to the flow direction of the main stream of molten material, or b) in a transversal direction with respect to the flow direction of the main stream of. molten material, or c) according to a composition of the longitudinal (a) and transversal (b) mode, thus forming a resulting stream which keeps the labile additives segregated from the main stream of molten material.

A cationic polymerization process for the synthesis of nano-structured polymers containing graphene which comprises reacting graphite oxide dispersed in a solvent by means of ultrasounds, with at least one vinyl monomer and at least one vinyl aromatic monomer, in the presence of at least one strong inorganic acid and suitable for activating a cationic polymerization, wherein: &#x2014;said graphite oxide contains from 5% to 60% by weight of bound oxygen, &#x2014;said vinyl monomer contains at least one carboxylic group wherein the ratio between oxygen bound to the oxide and carboxylic groups ranges from 1:10 to 10:1 in moles per mole, and&#x2014;the ratio between said vinyl aromatic monomer and the sum of the quantity of graphite oxide and vinyl monomer containing carboxylic groups ranges from 50% to 99% by weight.

Cationic polymerization process for the synthesis of nano-structured polymers containing graphene

A process for the production of nano-scaled graphene platelets which comprises: a) putting a graphite material in contact with molecular or atomic oxygen or a substance capable of releasing molecular or atomic oxygen, obtaining a precursor consisting of graphite material functionalized with oxygen groups (FOG), characterized by a carbon/oxygen molar ratio higher than 8:1 b) subsequently, reducing (chemically or physically) said FOG precursor obtaining nano-scaled graphene platelets characterized by a carbon/oxygen molar ratio higher than 20:1.

Nanocomposite compositions based on expandable thermoplastic polymers which comprise: a) a polymeric matrix produced by the polymerization of a base comprising one or more polymerizable monomers; b) 1-10% by weight, calculated with respect to the polymer (a), of an expanding agent englobed in the polymeric matrix; c) 0.004-15% by weight, calculated with respect to the polymer (a), of an athermanous filler comprising nano-scaled graphene plates with a thickness (orthogonal to the graphene sheet) not greater than 150 nm, an average dimension (length, width, or diameter) not greater than 10 micrometers and a surface area&#x3e;50 m2/g.
