A control valve for a passageway in which the valve is reciprocated toward and away from its seat by pressure within a pressure dome and pressure exteriorly of the valve housing and in which reciprocation is controlled by a J-slot capable of latching the valve in open position while being run and releasing the valve for reciprocation after being landed in the well together with a frangible disc which may be ruptured to permit flow past the valve member; said valve being used to control flow through a H mandrel in a pumpdown system.

Flow control system

A high-strength side pocket mandrel for high pressure service having a full-opening bore throughout its length but having a bore of keyhole shape above its receptacle bore to provide minimal but ample space for operation of a kickover tool for installing devices in the receptacle bore and providing strengthened walls for withstanding greater forces which would tend to burst or collapse the mandrel.

A pumpdown well completion system for pumpdown well servicing of remotely located wells such as subsea wells including particularly a parking tool and a parking tool landing nipple for a pumpdown flowline to permit pumping a tool train to the landing nipple using a large size piston unit and thereafter pumping a section of the tool train beyond the landing nipple using small size piston units. The parking tool includes a central mandrel having a coupling collet telescopically engaged in a housing having a parking collet. The mandrel is telescopically engaged in the housing for movement between a first traveling position at which the coupling collet connects a large size section of a tool train with a small size section and a second release position at which the small size tool train section is released from the parking tool. The housing includes a parking collet operated by movement of the coupling collet for releasably locking the parking tool in the landing nipple when the coupling collet moves to a release position. The landing nipple is a dual wall flow conductor having an inner parking tube including a stop shoulder and a locking recess and fluid bypass ports longitudinally spaced on either side of the parking position of the parking tool and an outer housing defining an annular bypass flow passage between the ports.

Parking tool for pumpdown well completion system

A well completion system particularly adapted for pumpdown operation in which landing of a standing valve in a foot valve automatically opens a foot valve and in which withdrawing of the standing valve automatically closes the foot valve and in which provisions are made to pump by both valves.

Well system

A well tool or bridge plug for blocking fluid communication through well tubing. The present invention allows a fixed volume of liquid to be trapped within the well tubing while installing the plug. A piston means is releasably secured within the bridge plug. The piston means can slide relative to the housing of the bridge plug to compensate for any liquid displaced by inserting the bridge plug into the well tubing. The present invention is particularly adapted for use in through the flow line (TFL) or pumpdown well completions. However, the present invention could be used with wireline equipment.

Compensating bridge plug

Disclosed is a system for locating well equipment at preselected locations within a well's tubing string. Positioned within the tubing string are a plurality of series of locating nipples. A locating tool runs through the tubing string. The locating tool may pass through at least one entire series of locating nipples without engaging any one nipple and subsequently engage a selected locating nipple in another series of locating nipples. This abstract is neither intended to define the scope of the invention, which, of course, is measured by the claims, nor is it intended to be limiting in any way.

Locating system

A well system and method of installation and operation for two-way communication between a service facility and a remotely located well head such as associated with an offshore well for such well functions as production of well fluids by gas lift. The system includes a well having a string of production tubing in a casing defining an annulus around the tubing, a gas lift valve in the tubing to admit lift gas from the annulus to the bore of the tubing to assist in raising production fluids to the surface, a well head including fittings for fluid communication into the production tubing and into the annulus, a service facility spaced from the well head including facilities for receiving well production and for pumping injection gas for gas lift in the well, and conductors communicating the service facility with the well head. The coiled tubing string is installed in the flow line between the service facility and the well head by several techniques including using pumpdown pistons which are displaced through the flow line by fluid pressure from the service facility to the well head. The pumpdown pistons may be either connected directly to the coiled tubing to pull the tubing from the service facility to the well head or may be connected to a cable which is transported to the well head where the cable is connected with a winch which in turn pulls the coiled tubing through the flow line to the well head.
