A blade root cover segment suitable for fitting to a wind turbine blade to span a gap between the blade and a spinner cover. The blade root cover segment includes a first end and a second end and further includes a curved flange for abutting against a correspondingly curved surface of the wind turbine blade; a cover wall extending radially from the flange; and a tensioning band associated with the flange. The tensioning band includes a first end proximate to the first end of the blade root cover segment and a second end proximate to the second end of the blade root cover segment. The first end and the second end of the tensioning band include connection means for connecting with and applying tension between a like blade root cover segment. A blade root cover and a method of assembling a blade root cover are also provided.

Relating to wind turbine blade root cover

The present invention relates to a hydraulic pitch system for pitching a blade of a wind turbine having a hub by means of a hydraulic fluid. The system comprises at least one hydraulic cylinder for adjusting a pitch angle of the blade, the hydraulic cylinder comprising a pitch piston movable in the hydraulic cylinder, and a first port and a second port arranged on each side of the pitch piston, and an accumulator hydraulically connected to the cylinder. The system further comprises a pitch safety system adapted to maintain the blade in a predetermined pitch angle when a person is entering the hub of the wind turbine for service and/or maintenance, the pitch safety system comprising a first valve which by activation releases a pressure in the hydraulic pitch system by draining off the accumulator for the hydraulic fluid until the pressure has reached a predetermined pressure level.

A pitch system () for rotating a blade () of a wind turbine relative to a hub () generally comprises a bearing () having an inner bearing ring () configured to be mounted to the hub and an outer bearing ring () configured to be mounted to the blade. A first coupling member () positioned between the hub and inner bearing ring extends radially inward. A second coupling member () positioned between the blade and outer bearing ring extends radially inward and over the inner bearing ring. A drive system () includes a first drive member () coupled to the first coupling member and a first driven member () coupled to the second coupling member. The first drive member is configured to move the first driven member to rotate the outer bearing ring relative to the inner bearing ring and thereby pitch the blade.

Pitch system for a wind turbine

A blade bearing for mounting a blade of a wind turbine to a hub of the wind turbine comprises inner and outer rings arranged next to each other. One of the inner and outer rings is configured to mount to the blade, and the other is configured to mount to the hub. At least two rows of rolling elements are positioned between the inner and outer rings. Upper and lower rows of the rolling elements are located in respective upper and lower planes. A method of controlling at least one wind turbine blade during the stopping process of the rotor in a wind turbine system is disclosed. The method optimizes the control velocity of the process in response to one or more feedback values of the system and/or one or more feedback values from the surroundings of the system by altering the angular pitch velocity from 10&#xb0;/sec during the initial stage of the stopping process to 5&#xb0;/sec at the final stage of the stopping process. Method of controlling the pitch velocity of a wind turbine blade and control system therefore

A hydraulic system and method for controlling the brake of a wind turbine are provided. During operation of the wind turbine, pressurized working fluid in the hydraulic system is blocked from being supplied to the brake. Even if some of this fluid does reach the brake, it is drained to prevent a pressure build-up and activation. To activate the brake, this drainage is stopped and the pressurized fluid is supplied to the brake. The blocking and unblocking the pressurized working fluid may be controlled by first and second activation valves arranged in parallel in a supply line that communicates the working fluid to the brake.
