An electronic device having a housing for accommodating electronic components, preferably electronic components forming a process transmitter. The housing has two chambers, in which electronic components and user interfaces and/or connection elements for cable are arranged. The electronic components are arranged in a first chamber. In the case of a process transmitter, which is simple to maintain, electronic components are arranged exclusively in the first chamber, while user interfaces of the electronic components and/or connection elements for cable are positioned exclusively in the second chamber.

A circuit arrangement comprises a voltage regulator coupled to an external voltage supply and a control loop associated with the voltage regulator. The control loop includes an electrical current controller for setting the electrical current value, an analog-digital converter, a reference resistor and a computation/control unit coupled with the voltage regulator and the said analog-digital converter, and the control loop is so embodied that the voltage regulator, as a function of the presently set electrical current value, controls a voltage to an external load connected with the electrical current output. Particularly the computation/control unit is adapted to calculate a voltage to be delivered by the voltage regulator and to operate both, the electrical current controller and the voltage regulator for setting the electrical current value and to operate and for tuning the voltage delivered by the voltage regulator as a function of the presently set electrical current value, respectively.

Circuit arrangement for reducing power loss in the case of an active electrical current output of a field device

An apparatus for determining and/or monitoring mass flow of a fluid medium through a pipeline, or through a measuring tube. The apparatus includes two temperature sensors and a control/evaluation unit. The two temperature sensors are arranged in a region of a housing facing the medium and in thermal contact with the medium flowing through the pipeline, or through the measuring tube. A first of the temperature sensors is heatably embodied. A second of the temperature sensors provides information concerning the present temperature of the medium. The control/evaluation unit, on the basis of primary measured variables, such as temperature difference between the two temperature sensors and/or heating power fed to the first temperature sensor, ascertains the mass flow of the medium through the pipeline. The control/evaluation unit, in ascertaining the mass flow, provides a correction value for the mass flow and/or for the primary measured variable and/or for a measured value derived from the primary measured variable. And, the control/evaluation unit, in ascertaining the correction value, takes into consideration heat exchange by forced convection and heat exchange by free convection between the temperature sensors and the medium.

Thermal flow measuring apparatus including RTD sensor

A method for signal processing of measurement signals of a vortex flow transducer for measuring flow of a medium through a measuring tube. The method is characterized by low needs as regards computing power and memory space. The transducer includes a bluff body arranged in the measuring tube and a sensor for registering pressure fluctuations arising at the bluff body and for converting such pressure fluctuations into an electrical measurement signal. In the method, at least a portion of the measurement signal is sampled and digitized, an autocorrelation of the digitized measurement signal is calculated, and the flow is derived on the basis of at least one characteristic of the autocorrelation.

Method for signal processing of measurement signals of a vortex flow transducer

A measuring device includes: a measuring transducer accommodated, at least partially, in a housing, for registering at least one, measured variable; and a measuring device electronics electrically connected, at least at times, with the measuring transducer. The measuring device electronics includes at least one measurement channel for registering and further processing at least one primary signal generated by means of the measuring transducer, and an electrical current measuring circuit for registering measuring-device-internally flowing, electrical currents. Furthermore, it is provided, that the electrical current measuring circuit registers, during operation, at least at times, especially recurringly, an electrical leakage current, which flows as a result of a potential difference existing, at least at times, between housing and measuring device electronics and as a result of an electrically conductive connection likewise existing between housing and measuring device electronics, especially an undesired, electrically conductive connection and/or an electrically conductive connection formed by a deposit affecting the housing. Taking into consideration the registered leakage current, the measuring device electronics generates, additionally, at least one state value, especially a digital state value, instantaneously representing an operating state, especially a defective operating state, of the measuring device.

Measuring device and method for monitoring a measuring deivce

A vortex flow pickup serves for measuring mass flow, volume flow or flow velocity of a fluid which is flowing in a measuring tube having a tube wall, and has a temperature sensor arranged in such a way that the vortex flow pickup may also be used together with those fluids which corrode the temperature sensor. A bluff body which produces vortices, and consequently pressure fluctuations, is arranged in the measuring tube. A vortex sensor responding to these pressure fluctuations is fitted downstream of the bluff body in a bore of the tube wall of the measuring tube. The vortex sensor comprises a diaphragm which covers the bore and on which a sensor vane protruding into the fluid is fastened. The temperature sensor is fixed on the bottom of a blind hole of the sensor vane. On the side of the diaphragm lying opposite the sensor vane, a sensor element is fastened. The temperature sensor may alternatively be arranged in a longitudinal bore of the bluff body.

Vortex flow pickup

The vortex flow sensor is designed to measure the mass flow rate, the volumetric flow rate, or the flow velocity of a fluid flowing in a flow tube having a tube wall, and has two temperature sensors arranged in such a way that the vortex flow sensor may also be used with fluids which would corrode the temperature sensors. A bluff body in the flow tube sheds vortices and thus causes pressure fluctuations. A vortex sensor device responsive thereto is fitted downstream of the bluff body in a hole provided in the wall of the flow tube. The vortex sensor device comprises a sensor vane extending into the fluid. The temperature sensors are disposed in a blind hole of the sensor vane. Alternatively, the temperature sensor may be disposed in blind hole of the bluff body.

Vortex flow sensor for measuring fluid flow through a flow tube

This sensor () generates accurate measuring results, for example with an error in the order of 0.5% of the measuring value, hat has mimimized production costs as well as a shorter overall length compared to that of conventional sensors. The sensor has two parallel V shaped measuring tubes () each being of one-piece construction. Each tube has a straight inlet portion (), a straight outlet portion (), an inlet bend () connected with the inlet portion, an outlet bend () connected with the outlet portion, a straight tube portion () connected with the inlet bend, a straight tube portion () connected with the outlet bend, and a vertex bend () connected with the first and second straight tube portions. An excitation arrangement () causes the measuring tubes () to vibrate as a tuning fork. Interspaced sensor elements () are fixed to the measuring tubes. Mounted in the support frame () is a feedthrough () for a printed-circuit board () having conducting tracks () to which leads () of the excitation system () and of the sensor elements () are connected.

A Coriolis mass flow/density sensor is provided. The sensor includes a measuring tube for conducting a fluid. The measuring tube is fixed in a support and may be coupled to a pipe via an inlet tube and an outlet tube. The sensor further includes an excitation arrangement for vibrating the measuring tube in a predetermined vibration mode, a sensor arrangement for detecting vibrations of the measuring tube, and a brake assembly coupled to the measuring tube and the support. The brake assembly is operable to suppress at least one mode of vibrations other than the predetermined vibration mode.

Coriolis mass flow/density sensor with single straight measuring tube

A flow meter includes a flow sensor for conducting fluid in a measuring direction and an opposite measuring direction, alternatively. Evaluation electronics coupled to the flow sensor generate a sensor signal corresponding to the flow rate of the fluid. A first subcircuit converts the sensor signal to a flow rate signal and a second subcircuit coupled to the first subcircuit generates an output signal representing the flow rate in the measuring direction. A third subcircuit fed by the flow rate signal delivers a control signal for controlling the generation of the output signal. The third subcircuit determines a flow when the fluid flows in the measuring direction and a counterflow when the fluid flows in the opposite direction, and calculates a balanced flow therefrom. Depending on the balanced flow, the third subcircuit controls the second subcircuit with the control signal to generate the output signal in a predetermined manner.

Volume or mass flowmeter

A Coriolis mass flow/density sensor which can be installed in a pipe and through which a fluid to be measured flows during operation is balanced over a wide density range so that accurate measurements are possible. The Coriolis mass flow/density sensor includes a measuring tube, an excitation arrangement for exciting the measuring tube to vibrate in a second fundamental flexural mode of vibration; and a counterbalance member attached to the measuring tube which counterbalances the vibration of the measuring tube. A cantilever can be attached to the measuring tube midway between the inlet end and the outlet end of the measuring tube. First and second sensors sense the measuring tube vibration on the inlet and outlet sides of the measuring tube, respectively.
