An internal combustion engine of a manually operated implement, having an elastic connecting duct between the engine and an air filter for vibration-decoupled bridging of a vibration gap between engine and the air filter. The elastic connecting duct has a first conduit for fuel/air mixture and a second conduit for largely fuel-free air. The first and second conduits are separate tubes having respective bores that are separated from one another over their entire lengths, the inlet of the engine is operatively connected to the air filter via the first conduit, and an air duct window of the engine is operatively connected to the air filter via the second conduit.

Internal combustion engine having an elastic connecting duct

A two-stroke engine has a cylinder and a piston reciprocating in the cylinder and delimiting a combustion chamber. The piston has at least one piston recess. A crankshaft is rotatably arranged in a crankcase connected to the cylinder. A connecting rod connects piston and crankshaft. Transfer channels connect the crankcase to the combustion chamber in pre-defined piston positions. The transfer channels each have a transfer port opening into the combustion chamber. A device for supplying fuel and an air channel supplying combustion air are provided. In predetermined piston positions, the air channel is connected by the piston recess to the transfer ports. The air channel opens into the cylinder bore opposite the exhaust for the exhaust gases. The air channel, the piston recess, and the transfer channels define an air passage that provides approximately uniform distribution of air from the air channel into the transfer channels.

Two-stroke engine

A carburetor () for an internal combustion engine has an intake channel section () wherein a throttle element and a choke element are supported to pivot about respective rotational axes (). The carburetor () has a starter unit which has an operating position, an off position and at least one start position. In the start position, the starter unit fixes defined positions of the throttle element and the choke element. A simple manipulability and a multifaceted operational use of the carburetor () are achieved when the starter unit includes an actuating lever () and an intermediate lever () having respective rotational axes () which are at a distance (c) to each other at least at the elevation of the intermediate lever () and when the actuating lever () acts on the throttle element via the intermediate lever ().

Carburetor arrangement for an internal combustion engine

A portable handheld work apparatus such as a motor-driven chain saw () includes a housing () wherein an internal combustion engine () and a carburetor () are mounted. A throttle lever () is provided which is pivotally journalled on a handle (). The handle () is connected to the housing () via at least one antivibration element (). A vibration gap () is configured between the handle () and the housing (). A transmitting unit () is provided for transmitting the pivot movement of the throttle lever () to the carburetor (). The transmitting unit includes a rigid transmitting element () which bridges the vibration gap (). A simple configuration and a substantial decoupling of the relative movement between the housing () and the handle () from the actuating movement of the carburetor is achieved in that the transmitting element () is rotatably journalled and the pivot movement of the throttle lever () is transmitted as a rotation about a rotational axis () lying transverse to the vibration gap ().

Portable handheld work apparatus

A two-cycle engine is provided and has a cylinder with a combustion chamber delimited by a reciprocating piston. The engine has an inlet for fuel/air mixture, an outlet out of the combustion chamber for exhaust gas, and four transfer channels that open into the cylinder via inlet windows, and fluidically connect the crankcase with the combustion chamber as a function of the piston position. The transfer channels have a connecting portion to the crankcase, an ascending portion substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis of the cylinder, and an opening-out portion into the combustion chamber. The planes defined by that side wall of the transfer channel close to the outlet that is remote from the outlet, and by the side wall of the transfer channel remote from the outlet that is close to the outlet, intersect in a line extending on the side of the mirror plane facing the transfer channels.
