A dielectric barrier discharge, DBD, lamp device comprises a toroid shaped discharge chamber () having a discharge chamber wall (). The discharge chamber wall comprises a tubular inner wall section (), a tubular outer wall section (), and two ring-shaped end wall sections (). Each of the end wall sections extend between an end of the outer wall section and an end of the inner wall section. A high voltage electrode () is provided at an outer surface of the outer wall section of the discharge chamber wall. A low voltage electrode comprises an electrically conducting fluid surrounded by the inner wall section of the discharge chamber wall. The DBD lamp device may be part of an optical fluid treatment device.

A low-pressure mercury vapor discharge lamp has a lamp envelope enclosing, in a gastight manner, a discharge space provided with a filling of mercury and a rare gas. The lamp envelope includes electrodes for maintaining a discharge in the discharge space. The lamp envelope transmits UV-light and is made of a black glass component. The composition of the black glass component is free of PbO and comprises, expressed as a percentage by weight, the following constituents: 65-70% by weight of SiO, 1.4-2.2% by weight of LiO, 1.5-2.5% by weight of NaO, 11-13% by weight of KO, 1.8-2.6% by weight of MgO, 2.5-5% by weight of CaO, 2-3.5% by weight of SrO, 8-9.5% by weight of BaO, 0.2-0.4% by weight of CoO, and 1.7-3.25% by weight of NiO.

Low-pressure mercury vapor discharge lamp and apparatus for treatment

An identification system for a light radiation source () having a control circuit () for communicating with an identification circuit () associated with the light radiation source, wherein the identification circuit is arranged for storing data relating to the light radiation source. During operation, the control circuit communicates with the identification circuit via a signal path comprising at least a portion of a first electric wire () provided for energizing the light radiation source such that it is used as a first transmitting antenna for communicating with the identification circuit. The operation of the light radiation source is controlled in dependence on the data retrieved from the identification circuit. Depending on the result of the identification, operation of the light radiation source can be authorized or prevented, thus blocking the use of an incorrect radiation source for a given application.

Electronic lamp identification system

The present invention relates to glow-switch starters, lighting devices therewith and use thereof. The glow-switch starteris suitable for use with three phase supply voltages substantially higher than the common 230V supply voltage. This allows more efficient gas discharges in e.g. fluorescent lamps, and/or more lamp power, and/or less energy losses in ballastsand lamp electrodes. To make the glow-switch starter suited for such use, according to the invention, the gas fillingof the starteris adapted. An important criterion is that the glow current in the steady state operation of the fluorescent lamp that is started by the starter is small enough to prevent closing of the (bimetallic) switch.

A tanning device is described by which the bluish light emitted by mercury vapor lamps is converted into yellow or white light. For this purpose, the mercury lamps, or the sheets of transparent plastics material covering these lamps, are doped or coated with one or more organic or inorganic fluorescent dyes that partially absorb the blue light emitted by the mercury lamps and convert it into light of wavelengths of 550 to 650 nm.
