Information point having a provider for providing a data structure having entries about different objects, wherein a limited geographical area is associated to every object, and wherein object information is associated to every object, a determiner for determining a geographical position of the information point, an examiner for examining whether the geographical position of the information point lies in the geographical area associated to an object, and a provider for providing object information associated to an object, if the examiner has determined that the information point lies in the geographical area of the object.

A system for presenting information regarding an object provided within a plurality of information sources to a user or a presentation means depending on a location of the user or the presentation means includes a means for determining the location, a means for selecting the information to be presented depending on the determined location and on one or several pre-settable selection criteria defining an information source from the plurality of information sources, and a means for outputting the information to be presented.

Method and device fore reproducing information

When generating a data stream, text data, an escape-start-sequence, a first number of data units, an escape-continuation-sequence and a second number of data units are entered into a data stream. A base decoder displays only the text data and skips the data units referenced by the escape-start-sequence and the escape-continuation-sequence, while an extension decoder reads those data units and processes them together.

Provision is made for an information reproduction scheme which is intelligent and adjusts to the desires and needs of the user in a manner which is almost unnoticeable to the user and is associated with little or no additional effort on the part of the user, in that the selection, from pieces of information or a plurality of pieces of information, of the information to be reproduced is performed randomly on the basis of an adaptive probability distribution, and the adaptive probability distribution is adapted based on a captured behavior of the user upon the reproduction of the information selected. Consequently, the user's behavior is used as a controlled variable for adapting the adaptive probability distribution, the latter one defining, among the reproducible information and/or those information objects wherein the reproducible information is provided, the likelihood that a specific piece of information provided in an information object will or will not be selected in the next random selection for the next piece of information to be reproduced.

Method and device for reproduction of information

It is a finding of the present invention that a user of a broadcast receiver gets text information significantly more quickly if a reference to another text information object in the broadcasting signal is contained in a text information object included in the broadcasting signal, which is currently displayed on the display of the broadcast receiver, and the user is enabled to cause the text information to be displayed to be changed from the text information of the current text information object to the text information of the text information object to which the current text information object refers by simple operation of a user selection means. Here, the additional effort is very limited since in today's broadcast receivers there mostly is an 'unoccupied' key, which only has an assigned function and thus is occupied in special situations of use of the broadcast receiver, and may be used as user selection means, as far as that goes. Due to the strong limitation of the available bandwidths of common broadcasting systems for data services, codings as efficient as possible are used in the generation of the text information objects to be transmitted.

Systems and methods for providing text-based messaging services in digital broadcasting systems

A method for providing an information unit to a user is described, wherein the information unit describes an object having a predetermined spatial relationship to the user. The method includes detecting a kind of movement or a position of the user. Depending on the detected kind of movement or the position of the user, a geographic selection criterion is adjusted, wherein, depending on the predetermined spatial relationship of object to user, the geographic selection criterion specifies whether the information unit is provided or not. If a location of the user is located such with respect to a geographic position of the user that the geographic selection criterion is met, the information unit for the object is reproduced. An advantage is that the concept may be employed in applications in which the user gets into different environments and situations which, in turn, require different geographic selection criteria.
