The present invention relates to a nonwoven comprising a first layer comprising a first fiber and a second fiber, and a second layer comprising a third fiber; wherein the first fiber is hydrophobic and the second fiber is hydrophilic, and wherein the second layer is more hydrophilic than the first layer; a method for manufacturing the nonwoven according to the present invention; and an absorbent article comprising a topsheet; and a backsheet joined to the topsheet, wherein the topsheet comprises the nonwoven according to the present invention.

Nonwoven and absorbent articles having the same

A material web is disclosed. The material web includes a fiber layer having a first side and an opposing second side. The fiber layer has a plurality of fibers, each of which having an intimate admixture of a thermoplastic polymer, and a wax and/or oil, wherein at least some of the wax and/or oil is exposed at an outer surface of the fibers. A surface energy treatment is disposed on the first side and/or the second side of the fiber layer.

Fibers of polymer-wax compositions

Material webs suitable for use in conjunction with disposable absorbent articles are disclosed herein. The material webs comprise a melt additive that when subjected to thermal energy may be encouraged to bloom across the entirety of the web or in localized areas of the web where localized thermal energy is applied.

Absorbent article with activatable material

A nonwoven substrate for an absorbent article including a layer of fibers is provided. The nonwoven substrate has a low surface tension fluid strikethrough time to basis weight ratio in the range of about 0.37 s/gsm to about 5 s/gsm. A plurality of the fibers each include fibrils extending outwardly from a surface of the fibers. The plurality of the fibers are made from a composition including a polyolefin and about 11% to about 35% of glycerol tristearate by weight of the composition. The nonwoven substrate has a specific surface area in the range of about 1 m/g to about 4 m/g.

Absorbent articles with nonwoven substrates having fibrils

An absorbent article comprises a three-dimensional liquid permeable topsheet. The topsheet comprises a first layer comprising a hydrophobic material and a second layer comprising a hydrophilic material. The first layer is joined to the second layer. The topsheet comprises a plurality of recesses, a plurality of projections, and a plurality of land areas. The land areas surround at least a majority of the plurality of projections and a plurality of the recesses. The absorbent article comprises a liquid impermeable backsheet, an acquisition material, an absorbent core disposed at least partially intermediate the acquisition material and the liquid impermeable backsheet, and an indicia. The indicia is on the acquisition material or the liquid permeable topsheet. The indicia is visible from a wearer-facing side of the absorbent article. The indicia is different color than the acquisition material or the liquid permeable topsheet.

Absorbent articles having three dimensional substrates and indicia

A nonwoven comprising a pattern of thermal bonds with anti-fuzz properties according to at least three and preferably all four of the following conditions: a) the pattern comprises thermal bonds disposed in parallel rows having a pitch angle (P) of from 0.5&#xb0; to 15&#xb0; relative to the machine direction or the cross-machine direction; and/or b) the bonding area of all the thermal bonds ranges from 17% to 30% of the area of the nonwoven, and/or c) the pattern comprises larger bonds and smaller bonds having different individual area, and/or d) the pattern comprises elongated bonds having different major directions.

Nonwoven thermal bonding pattern with low fuzz

A nonwoven extending in a machine direction and a perpendicular cross-machine direction and having fibers bonded by a pattern of thermal bonds. The thermal bonds comprise larger bonds having an individual area of at least 1.0 mm, in particular at least 1.5 mm; and smaller bonds having an individual area of less than 1.0 mm, in particular from about 0.10 mmto about 1.0 mm. There are at least as many smaller bonds as larger bonds, the ratio of the number of smaller bonds may be in particular about two.

An absorbent article to be worn the lower torso is provided. The absorbent article comprises a chassis comprising a topsheet, a backsheet, an absorbent core, and a pair of longitudinal barrier cuffs attached to the chassis. Each of the longitudinal barrier cuffs comprises a web of material. The web of material comprises a first nonwoven component layer, and a second nonwoven component layer. Each of the longitudinal barrier cuffs comprises a longitudinal zone of attachment where each of the longitudinal barrier cuff attaches to the chassis, a longitudinal free edge, and a plurality of mechanical bonds disposed between the longitudinal zone of attachment and the free edge. The plurality of mechanical bonds attach one of a first portion of the web of material to a second portion of the web of material, and the web of material to a portion of the absorbent article.

Absorbent article with bonded web material

A multi-component topsheet for an absorbent article includes a first discrete substrate forming about 80% or more of an outer perimeter of the topsheet and a second discrete substrate wherein about 80% or more of an outer perimeter of the second discrete substrate is joined to the first discrete substrate, wherein the topsheet has a single layer of substrate in about 75% or more of the total area of the topsheet and a dual layer of substrate in about 25% or less of the total area of the topsheet.

Multi-component topsheets

A hygiene article including a nonwoven web having nanofibers. The hygiene articles include diapers, training pants, adult incontinence pads, catamenials products, tampons, personal cleansing articles, and personal care articles. The nanofiber webs can be used as a barrier, wipe, or absorbent material. Particularly, the nanofiber web is used in a diaper as a barrier-on-core, outercover, and/or leg cuff. It may also be used as a wipe.

Disposable article that include fibers formed from compositions comprising thermoplastic polymers and waxes are disclosed, where the wax is dispersed throughout the thermoplastic polymer.

An article having as a component a section of nonwoven web formed predominately of polymeric fibers is disclosed. The section of nonwoven web may have a pattern of consolidating bonds impressed on the surface. The bonds may have at least one bond shape; and the bond shape may have a perimeter with a greatest measurable length and greatest measurable width. The perimeter may have a convex portion and an aspect ratio of length/width of at least 2.5. Other features may be imparted relating to the density and orientations of the bonds relative machine and cross directions of the web. The bond shape reflects the shape of a corresponding bonding protrusion on a bonding roller. It is believed that the shape, density and/or orientation of the bonding protrusions affect air flow through the bonding nip in a way that may be utilized to enhance loft of the resulting bonded nonwoven web.
