A network device includes multiple ports for accepting network connections, at least one memory for storing a fail-safe device configuration, a normal operational device configuration and one or more triggering events, and one or more processors connected to the memory for controlling the operation of the network device. The processor causes the network device to operate according to the fail-safe configuration in response to the occurrence of a triggering event.

In one embodiment, a proxy networking device for a router is provided in order to reduce the load of the CPU of the router. In an embodiment, the proxy networking device is configured to receive an advertisement from the router, to store information in the advertisement, and to respond to a query from a host node by transmitting the advertisement to the host node. The proxy networking device may be, for example, a switch.

A method for configuring network devices in a network includes creating a domain having a management device and a plurality of select network devices. A configuration command is issued from the management device to a central network device in the domain to configure at least one of the network devices in the domain identified by the management device. A preferred embodiment apparatus for configuring network devices in a network includes a controller provided at a remote location on the network for receiving a configuration request from a user to configure a select user defined device. The controller translates the configuration request to another configuration request, and issues the translated configuration request to a select network device corresponding to the select user defined device for configuring the select network device. A translation enabling part allows the controller to translate the first configuration request received from the user to the second configuration request issued to the select network device.

A cooling system for an electric device such as a personal computer is disclosed. The cooling system includes a receiving assembly and a removable fan assembly. The receiving assembly has a first component of a bayonet lock and first electrical contact, while the fan assembly has a fan blade, a motor for the fan blade, a second component of the bayonet lock, and a second electrical contact. The first and second electrical contacts are situated with radial respect to each other such that turning the fan assembly to engage the bayonet lock forces an electrical connection between the first and second electrical contacts.
