A control device and a method for determining a concentration of a gas component, wherein a gas sensor is used. The gas sensor comprises a first electromechanical pump arranged at a first solid electrolyte membrane, and a second electromechanical pump arranged at a second solid electrolyte member. The method comprises operating the first electromechanical pump continuously and operating the second electromechanical pump in a plurality of phase pairs, each pair comprising a first and a second phase. The second electromechanical pump is in a deactivated state during the first phase and in an activated state during the second phase. A current in the second solid electrolyte membrane during the second phase is recorded, and the concentration of the gas component is determined based on said current. An exhaust gas treatment system and a vehicle are also disclosed.

Disclosed is a method for determining reliability regarding misfire determination of cylinders of an engine, comprising detecting a pressure in an exhaust manifold for a set of operation parameters comprising a certain range of crank angles for a certain engine load and certain engine speed so as to, for an actual cylinder setup of the engine, create pressure sample value patterns for combustion and misfire conditions. A template course is created for the thus created pressure sample value patterns comprising a set of sample points. The pressure for the created template courses is normalized at a desired crank angle. Difference values are determined based upon differences between sample points and corresponding detected and the normalized pressure values. The determined difference values are summarized so as to determine whether a predetermined share of the summarized difference values lies above or below a predetermined threshold value indicating reliability regarding misfire determination.

A method for diagnosing an aftertreatment component, wherein nitrogen oxide is reduced using a first catalytic converter upstream said aftertreatment component and a second catalytic converter downstream said aftertreatment component, said aftertreatment component oxidizing nitric oxide into nitrogen dioxide. A first sensor measure nitrogen oxide downstream said first catalytic converter but upstream said aftertreatment component, and a second sensor measure nitrogen oxide downstream said aftertreatment component. The method includes: supplying additive upstream said first catalytic converter; using said first and second sensors, performing a first measurement at a first temperature of said first aftertreatment component; using said first and second sensors, performing a second measurement at a second temperature of said first aftertreatment component; and diagnosing oxidation of nitric oxide into nitrogen dioxide in said aftertreatment component using said first and second measurements.

Method and system for diagnosing an aftertreatment component subjected to an exhaust gas stream

The present invention relates to a method for correcting a supply of additive to an exhaust gas stream resulting from combustion in an internal combustion engine. A first aftertreatment component being arranged for oxidation of nitric oxide into nitrogen dioxide, and a reduction catalytic converter being arranged downstream said first aftertreatment component. Additive is supplied to said exhaust gas stream for reduction of nitrogen oxides in said reduction catalytic converter, the additive being supplied in proportion to an occurrence of nitrogen oxides in said exhaust gas stream, said proportion being subject to correction. The method includes: supplying unburned fuel to said exhaust gas stream upstream said first aftertreatment component to reduce oxidation of nitric oxide into nitrogen dioxide in said first aftertreatment component, and correcting said supply of additive to said exhaust gas stream when supplying unburned fuel to said exhaust gas stream.

Provided is a method for diagnosing unintended fuelling from one or more fuel injectors of a multi cylinder internal combustion engine during engine operation. Pressurized fuel is intended to be distributed by means of said fuel injectors from said accumulator tank to the cylinders for combustion. An oxidation catalyst is arranged downstream said cylinders. The method comprises: determining the pressure in the fuel accumulator tank and whether said pressure is decreasing; and determining whether the actual amount of fuel provided by the pump unit exceeds the demanded amount of fuel. The method further comprises the steps of: determining whether the temperature associated with the oxidation catalyst is above a certain level and/or determining whether the air/fuel ratio is below a certain level and/or determining whether an amount of particulate matter is above a certain level; and confirming an unintended fuelling based on the determined conditions.

An exhaust gas aftertreatment system and a method of use reduces the amount of NO produced in at least one of: (1) a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) catalytic converter and (2) an ammonia slip catalyst (ASC) in the exhaust gases from a combustion engine. The system includes an SCR catalytic converter arranged in an exhaust gas line upstream of an optional ASC. The exhaust gases pass through the SCR catalytic converter and any ASC before they are released by the exhaust gas outlet. An injector injects a reducing agent into the exhaust gases in the exhaust gas line upstream of the SCR catalytic converter at a dosing frequency F. A control unit generates a control signal to adjust the dosing frequency F so that the amount of NO produced in at least one of: (1) the SCR catalytic converter and (2) the ASC is minimized while maintaining the amount of reducing agent added.
