Disclosed are a switching apparatus including an internal circuit using an inductive element and a control method thereof. The switching apparatus includes a switch that regulates a current of the inductive element, and a signal control circuit that arithmetically calculates a turn-off time point of the switch by using a monitoring voltage corresponding to the current of the inductive element, a sampling voltage of the monitoring voltage, and a reference voltage corresponding to a target average current of the inductive element, and controls the switch.

Switching apparatus and control method thereof

A signal control circuit and a switching apparatus are provided. The switching apparatus includes: a switch for controlling a current flowing through an inductive element; a monitoring node connected with the switch; and a signal control circuit, connected with the monitoring node and a reference voltage, for turning on/off the switch, wherein the signal control circuit includes an integrator for generating a comparison voltage by using a monitoring voltage of the monitoring node and the reference voltage, wherein the integrator includes: a resistor unit; a capacitor unit; and an auto-calibrator for receiving at least one selection signal and determining at least one of a resistance of the resistor unit and a capacitance of the capacitor unit, during a power-up period, and allowing a peak value of the comparison voltage to fall within a target range.

The present invention introduces a device and a method for driving an LED with an improved power factor without using a voltage detector having a large amount of area and power consumption. The device for driving an LED includes a power supply unit, an LED array, and a current path select circuit. The LED arrayis connected with the power supply unit in parallel and includes at least one LED string including LED channels LEDto LEDn that are configured of a plurality of LEDs connected in series. The current path select circuit selects a path of current flowing from output terminals of the plurality of LED channels according to voltage levels of each of the output terminals of the plurality of LED channels.
