A unitary junction for deployment in a wellbore, wherein the unitary junction permits electrical power and communications signals to be established in both a lateral wellbore and a main wellbore utilizing. The unitary junction assembly generally includes a conduit having a first upper aperture, a first lower aperture and a second lower aperture where the first lower aperture is defined at the distal end of a primary leg extending from a conduit junction and the second lower aperture is defined at the distal end of a deformable lateral leg extending from the conduit junction. A lower wireless energy transfer mechanism is positioned along at least one of the legs between the distal end of the leg and the junction. The lower wireless energy transfer mechanism is in wired communication an upper energy transfer mechanism permitting electrical communication to be established across the intersection of wellbore branches utilizing the unitary junction.

A unitary multilateral junction for deployment in a wellbore, wherein the multilateral junction permits electrical power and communications signals to be established in both a lateral wellbore and a main wellbore utilizing capacitive coupling and a cavity resonator. The unitary junction assembly generally includes a conduit with a first upper aperture, a first lower aperture and a second lower aperture where the first lower aperture is defined at the distal end of a primary passageway extending from a conduit junction and a second lower aperture defined at the distal end of a lateral passageway extending from the conduit junction. A lower wireless energy transfer mechanism in the form of a capacitive coupler is positioned along at least one of the passageways between the distal end of the passageway and the junction. A cavity resonator is adjacent the capacitive coupler to enhance the electric field signal of the capacitive coupler.

An apparatus and method for in-situ wellbore measurements wherein the apparatus includes one or more sensors arranged outside a wellbore, one or more actuators associated with the sensors, a wireless instrument unit situated outside the non-magnetic portion of wellbore conduit, and an electromagnetic transceiver situated inside a non-magnetic portion of wellbore conduit and mounted on an electric-line logging cable, each of the wireless instrument unit and the transceiver have a transmission antenna and a spaced apart receiver antenna, each transmission antenna disposed to be positioned to oppose through the non-magnetic casing a receiver antenna to form a phase-locked loop that verifies the relative positions of the transceiver and wireless instrument unit.

Method and apparatus for in-situ wellbore measurement and control with inductive connectivity

A quartz transducer having four or more crystal-controlled oscillators intended for measurement of applied pressure and temperature. All four oscillators are controlled by crystal quartz resonators operating in the thickness-shear mode. Two crystals measure the pressure and temperature respectively. A third crystal is a reference, and the fourth crystal may be another reference crystal or a second temperature crystal. The output of the latter is either phase leading or phase lagging the thermal response of the main temperature sensor.

An apparatus and method to monitor parameters outside the wellbore casing of a well includes a Wireless Sensor Unit located outside a section of a non-magnetic casing of the well. The Wireless Sensor Unit includes a sensor device to measure parameters of the surroundings. The apparatus further includes an internal Sensor Energizer Unit inside the wellbore casing used for power and communication with the Wireless Sensor Unit. The Sensor Energizer Unit and the Wireless Sensor Unit are arranged to be at the same elevation, and they communicate data using electromagnetic modulation techniques.

Method and apparatus for in-situ wellbore measurements

An apparatus and method to provide monitoring of pressure outside the wellbore casing of a well in which a Wireless Sensor Unit is placed externally of a section of non-magnetic casing. An internal Sensor Energizer Unit is placed inside the wellbore casing. The Wireless Sensor Unit includes one or more sensors to measure the pressure and/or temperature of the surroundings. The Wireless Sensor Unit and the Sensor Energizer Unit communicate using electromagnetic modulation techniques, and the Wireless Sensor Unit may be powered by means of power harvesting from the Sensor Energizer Unit.
