A method for displaying point-of-interest coordinate locations in perspective images and for coordinate-based information transfer between perspective images on different platforms includes providing a shared reference image of a region overlapping the field of view of the perspective view. The perspective view is then correlated with the shared reference image so as to generate a mapping between the two views. This mapping is then used to derive a location of a given coordinate from the shared reference image within the perspective view and the location is indicated in the context of the perspective view on a display.

Methods and system for communication and displaying points-of-interest

An information system for dynamic distribution of location-related information between users with different perspective views includes a number of user units each including a viewing arrangement defining a viewing direction and a registration subsystem for deriving a mapping between the current perspective view and a shared location reference. The user units also include a data management system and a wireless communication arrangement. At least one of the user units further includes a user input interface for designating a viewed location within the current perspective view for association with location-related information to generate a new location-related information entry for sharing with others of the plurality of user units. At least one other of the user units further includes a display device associated with the viewing arrangement for displaying location-related information correctly positioned in the context of the current perspective view.

Real-time geographic information system and method

A method and system for providing a platform with pseudo-autonomous correlation between a perspective view generated by a platform-based imaging sensor and an orthogonal photographic representation includes storing on the platform a reference perspective view and parameters of a primary mapping transformation corresponding to a mapping between the orthogonal photographic representation and the reference perspective image. The platform then derives a mapping of equivalent points between a current perspective view and the orthogonal photographic representation by onboard processing of the current perspective view relative to the reference perspective view.

Method and system for pseudo-autonomous image registration

A system for automatic mapping of a walled structure includes at least one mobile unit, preferably worn by a user. The mobile unit has a position tracking system for tracking a current position of the mobile unit, a wall detection system including a sensor arrangement for measuring range data from the mobile unit to at least four points, and a mapping processor associated with both the position tracking system and the wall detection system. The mapping processor processes the range data and, if the at least four points lie on a common plane according to a defined criterion, maps a wall in corresponding spatial relation to the current position. The mobile unit preferably also includes a wireless communication link for transmitting and receiving data indicative of the mapped walls to other mobile units and to a remote command control unit.

Information sensing and sharing system for supporting rescue operations from burning buildings

A system for identifying flash events including an optical imaging module with one or more optical imaging array, the optical imaging module configured for monitoring a region of interest to identify a tentative flash event. The system further includes a ranging module associated with the optical imaging module and configured to derive an estimated range to a location of the tentative flash event, and an acoustic verification module associated with the ranging module and with one or more acoustic sensor. The acoustic verification module is configured to determine whether an acoustic event corresponding to the tentative flash event is detected within a time window derived from the estimated range, thereby classifying the tentative flash event as either a verified flash event or a rejected flash event.
