A system and method for controlling a social network based virtual world, in which users are represented by avatars that in turn are linked to the user's real world social network social profiles. The users may virtually meet in various different virtual meeting places or 'rooms'. In order to promote development of new and productive virtual relationships with a high degree of relevance to the user's real world experience, the system makes use of probability to interact (PTI) methods and algorithms. The PTI method keeps track of both the respective user's real-world interactions and virtual world interactions, computes one or more PTI values, and uses these PTI values to control the distribution of the user's avatars in a social interaction optimized manner. The PTI methods may also be used to control avatar appearance, suggest virtual events, and control the output of virtual event search engines.

Controlling social network virtual assembly places through probability of interaction methods

A method of controlling the position and orientation of user controlled computer generated avatars in computer generated virtual world in a manner that tends to bias the user controlled avatar positions and orientations in a way that sends useful non-verbal social cues to outside observers. These non-verbal cues can include cues such as 'this conversation is open to outside participants' and 'this conversation is private'. The methods can also convey &#x201c;stage presence&#x201d; to that can somewhat bias the position and orientation of the user controlled avatars in a manner that takes the viewpoint of an outside observer into account. These effects can be modulated up or down as desired, and may be further modulated by the degree of social connections or past history of virtual world interactions between various users.

Method of controlling avatars

The invention is a system for displaying objects within an interactive game program, in which, the objects can be added during the game program creation and afterwards. Additionally, a component within the game program itself updates these objects and communicates with a centralized server that manages and controls the objects through a number of utilities. One embodiment of the invention is a system providing dynamically changing advertisements within interactive video games. Additionally, a centralized server communicates with an internal Ad Engine to update interactive game ads without impeding on the game performance or affect the game play in any unintended way. Furthermore, the invention provides various management suites for interactive game program developers, game program publishers, and advertisers to update and manage the advertising objects within the game program.

Dynamic advertising system for interactive games

A first executable, such as a computer game, operates co-extensively with a second independently operating executable that monitors events on a client operating the first executable. The second executable determines actions to be performed in response to monitored events, as defined by a business logic table. The second executable traps API calls to perform actions altering apparent output of the first executable. The business logic table may be distributed to the client separately. The second executable and the first executable may be configured to execute during the same times on the client node. The second executable may be used to provide additional content, including advertising, in the context of an existing game or other software executable.

Independently-defined alteration of output from software executable using distributed alteration engine

The present disclosure relates to the measurement of the audience characteristics or demographics which is or can be exposed to displayed interactive content depicted on a screen. The audience can include persons who are engaged in interacting with the interactive content as well as persons who are observers of the interactive content and/or the active participants. The content can include one or more targeted advertisements contained in or associated with interactive content, and can be varied based on the audience characteristics or demographics. The audience characteristics or demographics can be used to accurately charge advertisers for the impressions created by the content displayed and can also or alternatively be used to determine and/or trigger what content is actually displayed.
