A method for capturing COfrom a COcontaining gas (), such as en exhaust gas from a thermal power plant fired on carbonaceous fuel, or any other COcontaining industrial gas, where COis captured from the gas by causing the gas to flow counter current to a COabsorbing solvent introduced into a COabsorption section () in an absorber () so that COpresent in the gas is absorbed by the COabsorbing solvent to form a COrich solvent (), where COrich solvent is collected on the bottom of the of the absorption column and withdrawn for regeneration, and where the treated exhaust gas () is released to the atmosphere after being subjected to one or more washing step(s) (), wherein the temperature of the COabsorbing solvent () introduced into the COabsorption section has a temperature that is less than 5&#xb0; C. lower than the maximum temperature in the absorption section of the absorber, is described.

Method for mist control

A method for eliminating or substantially reducing emission of amines (amineslip) and alkaline degradation products to the atmosphere from a plant for COcapture from a flue gas, where the COis captured by counter-current flow to an absorbent in an absorption zone, the absorbent comprising an aqueous solution of one or more amine(s), to give a COlean flue gas that is released into the surroundings, and a COrich absorbent that is regenerated in a regeneration column to give a COrich gas that is treated further, and regenerated absorbent that is recycled to the absorption zone, wherein the COlean flue gas is washed with an acidic aqueous solution to remove or substantially reduce the amount of amine(s) and alkaline degradation products thereof in the gas, is described.
