Systems, products and methods for enabling symptom verification. Verifying a symptom may include eliminating repeated symptom definitions or eliminating symptoms having low accuracy. A computer system enables verification of a symptom including a rule for detecting a set of events related to a given problem. The computer system includes a symptom database which stores the symptom, a specimen database which stores a specimen including a set of events detected according to a rule of a certain symptom, and an analysis unit which analyzes the specimen stored in the specimen database using a new symptom in order to determine whether to add the new symptom to the symptom database. The present disclosure also includes a method and a computer program for enabling verification of a symptom including a rule for detecting a set of events related to a given problem.

Enabling symptom verification

A storage medium containing computer code, which when executed by a computer causes the computer to perform the steps of creating a second file of messages to be outputted by the software from a first file of messages, the messages in the first file being written in a first language and executing the software using the second file. The creating of the second file includes for each message in the first file, applying specified rules to form a second message by changing the character length of the second message, filling in any blank characters in the second message with a dummy character, inserting characters from the target language into prescribed places in the second message to form a second message having both characters of the first language and characters of the target language, and copying the second message into the second file.

Testing internationalized software using test resource file and test font

An efficient testing method is provided for internationalized software executed in a plurality of language environments. The method includes mock-translating an externalized resource file written in a first language of the internationalized software by converting characters of the first language to characters of a second language based on a conversion table; and displaying output information from the internationalized software that performs processing by referring to the mock-translated test resource file using one of a plurality of fonts prepared for respective test categories.

In a verification support apparatus, a content analysis section analyzes a content to divide the content into paragraphs, extract region/culture-specific data, and store the analysis results in an analysis result storage section. A first verification section verifies, based on the analysis results, the consistency between the content and locale of a paragraph and the consistency between the paragraph and locale of the region/culture-specific data. A second verification section verifies, based on the analysis results, the correspondence between a paragraph of language A and a paragraph of language B and the consistency between the region/culture-specific data of language A and the region/culture-specific data of language B. A content update section updates the content so that the results of verification by the first verification section or the second verification section can be displayed in a way a person in charge of verification can easily understand.

Apparatus and method for supporting verification of software internationalization

A method and system for analyzing a problem in a computing environment. Symptom rules that include associated problem information are generated in a symptom catalog. An input file including a stack trace provided in response to detecting the problem is received. Function names included in contiguous lines in the stack trace are identified. In response to a search for the function names in the symptom catalog, the function names found in the search are matched to keywords included in a symptom rule. The computing system retrieves problem information that corresponds to the matched keywords. A report is generated that includes the stack trace and a solution included in the retrieved problem information. The generated report uses a text attribute to emphasize the text of the function names included in the stack trace.

Problem analysis via matching contiguous stack trace lines to symptom rules

A method, system and computer program product for improving the efficiency of changing or modifying a message displayed by a program. A memory unit stores a message read and displayed by the execution of a program, associating it with a language in which the message is written. An execution unit reads from the memory unit and displays the message corresponding to a language set by a user by executing the program. An editing unit edits the message stored in the memory unit and stores the edited message into the memory unit, associating it with a different language from that of the unedited message. A setting unit changes the language of the message displayed by the execution unit, where the execution unit reads from the memory unit and displays the message corresponding to the language changed by the setting unit thereby displaying the edited message instead of the unedited message.
