A portable instant water heater. Water is delivered to a base unit of the instant hot water heater by a pump that draws water from a reservoir through a flow control valve. The water flows into a pre-heater that wraps around a base of the burner and that is heated by the burner. Water is heated in a heat exchanger and then exits the base unit through an outlet spout that swings out from the base unit to dispense water and that may be stored and locked into position in a handle for the base unit. The flow control valve may lower the flow of water through the heat exchanger, so the water has more time to absorb heat and to get hotter. The base unit includes a single control knob that turns on the pump and the burner and operates the flow control valve.

A lantern which may be manipulated between a closed position in which it surrounds a mantle or mantles for the lantern to a second, opened position in which the globe has been moved or otherwise manipulated to provide access to the mantle or mantles. As an example, the globe may slide upward relative to the mantles so as to expose the mantles for changing. A globe for the lantern includes a frosted band located on a circumference radially outward from the mantle or mantles. The frosted band minimizes glare from the lantern, and the combination of the frosted band and clear sections located above and below the band provide illumination substantially equal to a clear globe.

Portable instant hot water heater

A lantern having a compact configuration. The lantern has a generally cylindrical shape with a lower housing containing a fuel tank, a shut-off valve and a regulator. A cap at the base of the lower housing can be removed, providing access to the fuel tank. The fuel tank is refillable via a fuel fill valve arranged at the base of the tank. A burner tube is coupled to the regulator and extends upwards beyond the housing. A mantle is removably coupled to the upper end of the burner tube. A generally conical reflector is arranged around the burner tube below the mantle and above the regulator. A glass globe is arranged around the burner tube/mantle assembly and a ventilator cap is arranged above the globe. The ventilator cap attaches to rails which extend up from opposite sides of the lower housing and can be readily removed to access the mantle.

A drip coffee maker that may be used over an open flame, such as a flame from a camping stove. The coffee maker may include an upper portion having conventional automatic drip coffee maker components. To protect the upper portion components, a base for the coffee maker is designed to direct the open flame away from the plastic components and to dissipate heat from the open flame so that the plastic components will not burn. In addition, the coffee maker includes a wrap assembly and heat sink that are arranged to fit around a decanter for the coffee maker, and which are configured to dissipate heat from the flame and away from the upper coffee maker components.

A fuel delivery system and burner for a torch. Fuel passes from a regulator into a tube that extends through the path of a flame that is produced by the burner. The tube preferably is shaped into a coil around the area of the flame so that the coil is heated by the flame. The heated coil assures that liquid fuel in the coil is vaporized as it passes through the coil. In addition, the coil may act as a flame spreader. A burner tube includes an internal passage and an outer passage. Fuel vapor flows through each of these passages, and escapes the burner tube at a distal end. The outer flow of gas is slow, and does not aspirate air, causing the flame to remain attached to the burner and to burn yellow. The inner flow of gas adds velocity, helping the burner flame to be wind resistant.

A gas operated lantern includes a control mechanism whereby a user may start gas flow through the lantern, operate a choke, and ignite the lantern. The user may perform these operations using the same control in an easy, simple series of motions. The user may rotate a knob, rotating a stem, to start gas flow and press the knob axially inward along the stem to operate a choke and an igniter.

A unitary airflow diffuser for use with a forced-air space heater has a plurality of spurs radially extending from a hub. The spurs include one or more vanes for deflecting the airflow generated by fan blades within the space heater. A nozzle assembly is secured through an aperture in the hub of the diffuser for supplying fuel within a combustion chamber. Brackets can be provided for securing an igniter and a sensor to the airflow diffuser. Mounting tabs are provided on each vane to secure the airflow diffuser to a mounting plate disposed at the input of the combustion chamber. The nozzle ejects the fuel through a central aperture in the mounting plate into the combustion chamber. The mounting plate can have secondary apertures through which air can be diverted, and vanes can be provided on the mounting plates to direct air through the secondary apertures. The deflected air ensures that the fuel swirls around the nozzle and igniter and also serves as auxiliary combustion air with the result that a uniform, clean burning flame is realized.
