Disclosed are high solids, one-component, storage stable coating compositions that include an epoxy resin comprising more than one 1,2-epoxy groups per molecule; a hydrocarbon compound having a softening point of from 50&#xb0; C. to 140&#xb0; C.; an alkoxy-functional and/or silanol-functional silicone; and a ketimine curing agent comprising a reaction product of reactants comprising a polyalkyldiamine component and a ketone component. Also disclosed are substrates at least partially coated with a coating deposited from such composition and methods for coating substrates with such compositions.

One-component epoxy coating compositions

Epoxy-polysiloxane based coating and flooring compositions exhibiting improved flexibility, and excellent weatherability and corrosion resistance after curing are described. The epoxy-polysiloxane polymer coating composition may be prepared by combining a polysiloxane, an epoxide resin material, and a cure system including a blend of at least one trialkoxy functional aminosilane and at least one amino functional polysiloxane resin, where the blend has an alkoxy content of 10% by weight to 25% by weight.

Epoxy siloxane coating compositions

Epoxy-polysiloxane based coating and flooring compositions exhibiting improved flexibility, and excellent weatherability and corrosion resistance after curing are described. The epoxy-polysiloxane polymer coating composition may be prepared by combining a polysiloxane, an epoxide resin material and a cure system including a blend of compounds selected from a dialkoxy functional aminosilane, a trialkoxy functional aminosilane, and an amino functional polysiloxane resin, where the blend has an average alkoxy functionality value ranging from 2.0 to 2.8.

Disclosed are one-component low temperature, moisture curable, storage stable coating compositions that include a silanol-functional silicone; an alkoxy-functional silicone; a flexibilizer comprising a reaction product of two or more reactants; and a curing agent selected from amines, aminosilanes, ketimines, aldimines, and combinations thereof. One component polysiloxane coating compositions and related coated substrates

Disclosed are one-component low temperature, moisture curable, storage stable coating compositions that include a silanol-functional silicone and/or an alkoxy-functional silicone, a flexibilizer comprising a reaction product of two or more reactants, and a curing agent selected from amines, aminosilanes, ketimines, aldimines, and combinations thereof. Particular compositions include of said silicones, a flexibilizer comprising a polymer having an alkoxysilane terminal unit as well as a urethane linkage, and a combination of an aminosilane, a trifunctional oxysilane and an aminoalcohol. Also disclosed are substrates at least partially coated with a coating deposited from such a composition and methods for coating substrates with such compositions.

Disclosed are coating compositions that include both (a) an alkoxy-functional and/or silanol-functional silicone; and (b) an epoxy-functional silicone. Also disclosed are substrates at least partially coated with a coating deposited from such a composition and methods for coating substrates with such compositions.

Silicone resin containing coating compositions, related coated substrates and methods

Fast-curing modified siloxane compositions comprise; (1) an alkoxy- or silanol-functional silicone intermediate, (2) at least one amine reactive ingredient selected from the group consisting of acetoacetate-functional ingredients, acrylate-functional ingredients, and mixtures thereof, (3) an epoxy-functional ingredient, (4) a curing agent selected from the group consisting of amines, aminosilanes, ketimines, aldimines and mixtures thereof, and (5) water. Other ingredients useful in forming fast-curing modified siloxane compositions of this invention include silanes, organometallic catalysts, solvents, pigments, fillers and modifying agents. The above-identified ingredients are combined and reacted to form a fully cured protective film comprising a cross-linked enamine polysiloxane and/or acrylate polysiloxane chemical structure in a reduced amount of time when compared to conventional epoxy siloxane compositions.

Fast-curing modified siloxane compositions

Halogenated resin compositions are prepared without using halogen acids by combining at least one silicone intermediate, with an optional silane, an organic halogen-containing ingredient having functional groups selected from the group consisting of hydroxy, amine, and carboxyl groups, and a resin selected from the group consisting of hydroxy- and epoxy-functional resins. One or more amine curing agent and/or catalyst selected from the group consisting of organometallic compounds, acids, bases, and mixtures thereof can optionally be added to facilitate ambient temperature curing of the resulting composition. The combined ingredients undergo hydrolysis reactions to form a halogenated organooxysilane that condenses to form a cross-linked halogenated polysiloxane composition. The resin also reacts with the condensing halogenated organooxysilane to introduce itself into the cross-linked halogenated polysiloxane and, thereby form the halogenated polysiloxane resin composition. The composition is prepare without using an inorganic halogen acid, and is fully-cured at ambient temperature by exposure to atmospheric moisture to form a protective film, or alternatively a composite, having improved properties of chemical, abrasion, corrosion, weather, flame, and ultraviolet resistance.

Halogenated resin compositions

Adhesive/adherend systems of this invention comprise a siloxane-modified adhesive component and a siloxane-modified adherend component. The siloxane-modified adhesive component is prepared by combining an epoxy resin with an organosilane ingredient, a polysiloxane resin, an amine hardener, an organometallic catalyst, a base catalyst, and any thickener and extender pigment. The siloxane-modified adherend component is prepared using a polysiloxane resin and may also contain other resins such epoxy, phenolic, polyester, vinyl ester, polyurethane, polyamide, melamine, furan, acrylate, thermoplastic polyvinyl chloride, polyethylene, polycarbonate, ABS, polystyrene, ethylene vinyl acetate, polyvinyl acetate, polyamide, and polypropylene resins. When placed into contact with one another, the siloxane groups in the siloxane-modified adhesive and siloxane-modified adherend components form Si--O--Si bonds between themselves to form an attachment force that both occurs at ambient temperature within a reasonable amount of time, and that is greater than otherwise possible using adhesive/adherend systems having unmodified adhesive and/or adherend components.

Siloxane-modified adhesive/adherend systems

Epoxy-polysiloxane polymer compositions of this invention are prepared by combining a resin component with a hardener component. The resin component comprises a non-aromatic epoxy resin ingredient and a polysiloxane ingredient. The hardener component comprises an amine and optionally an organotin catalyst. The composition can also include aggregates, pigments, and other additives depending on the particular end use. The composition is prepared using a sufficient amount of water to promote hydrolysis of the polysiloxane and the polycondensation of the silanols produced by such hydrolysis. In its cured form, the epoxy-polysiloxane composition exists as a uniformly dispersed arrangement of linear epoxy chain fragments that are cross-linked with a continuous polysiloxane polymer chain, thereby forming a non-interpenetrating polymer network chemical structure that has substantial advantages over conventional epoxy systems. Protective coatings formed from such compositions exhibit excellent weatherability in sunlight, and superior chemical and corrosion resistance after curing.

Epoxy-polysiloxane polymer composition

A polysiloxane polyurethane composition is prepared by combining in the presence of water and in a predetermined proportion an organic di- or polyisocyanate, a polyol, an hydroxyl-containing silicon material having the hydroxyl groups attached directly to a silicon atom, an organotin catalyst, an amine catalyst, a methoxy-functional silicone intermediate, and a carbinol. If desired, various different fillers, pigments, solvents, and additives for enhancing pigment wetting and flow control and the like can also be used to prepare the coating. The chemical ingredients are combined together to undergo chemical reaction to form silanol-functionalized urethane prepolymers that cure at ambient temperatures in the presence of moisture to form a polysiloxane polyurethane composition having enhanced properties of chemical and weather resistance, high tensile and tear strength, and high elongation.

Polysiloxane polyurethane compositions

Phenolic siloxane compositions are prepared in a first embodiment by combining phenol with an aldehyde and an alkoxy or silanol-functional silicone intermediate; in a second embodiment by combining a phenolic novolac resin with a formaldehyde donor and an alkoxy or silanol-functional silicone intermediate; and in a third embodiment by combining a phenolic resole resin with an alkoxy or silanol-functional silicone intermediate. Optionally, a catalyst to facilitate formation of a phenolic resin from phenol and formaldehyde can be added, a catalyst to facilitate condensation of the phenolic resin can be added, and at least one catalyst to facilitate hydrolysis and/or condensation of the silicone intermediate can be added. The phenolic resin catalyst can include acids, bases, and formaldehyde donors. The silicone intermediate catalyst can include organometallic compounds, amine compounds, and mixtures thereof. The ingredients react to form a phenolic siloxane composition comprising an IPN of siloxane and phenolic polymers, and having siloxane groups in the phenolic polymer. The phenolic siloxane composition has flame, heat and chemical resistance equal to or exceeding conventional phenolic resins, and has improved properties of impact resistance, tensile strength, flexural modulus, and density when compared to conventional non-siloxane phenolic siloxane compositions.

A sprayable, trowelable epoxy polysiloxane based coating and flooring composition exhibiting excellent weatherability in sunlight and superior chemical, corrosion and impact resistance after curing is made up of: (a) a resin component which includes a non-aromatic epoxy resin having at least two 1,2-epoxy groups per molecule; a polysiloxane and an organooxysilane; (b) an difunctional aminosilane hardener component; (c) an organotin catalyst; and (d) an aggregate or pigment component. Organic solvents and flow modifying agents may be added to facilitate spray application. The resin component, hardener component, aggregate component and desired catalysts are combined in the presence of a sufficient amount of water to promote the hydrolysis of polysiloxane and/or organooxysilane and the polycondensation of the silanols produced by such hydrolysis. The aminosilane and epoxide resin react to form a cured linear epoxy polymer. The polysiloxane and/or organooxysilane undergo a hydrolysis reaction which produces silanol. The silanol undergoes polycondensation forming a linear epoxy-modified polysiloxane polymer.
