Index tabs having a mechanism for alignment with an edge of a mounting sheet, and methods for making and using the same. Embodiments exemplary of the alignment mechanism include various stopper constructions, pocket constructions, and the like. For example, a pocket can be formed within an index tab, such that the pocket contains an opening at the bottom for receiving an edge of a mounting sheet. The edge of the mounting sheet becomes aligned with the index tab when it fully engages the top of the pocket, which acts as a stopper. After alignment is achieved, the index tab is adhered to the mounting sheet. Various shapes and materials that are beneficial in the new tab constructions are also disclosed.

Index tab, index tab bearing sheet and method of using an index tab

A sheet divider may include a sheet stock having an edge and a tab. The tab may be disposed at the edge of the sheet stock and have an opening. The opening is configured to enable a label to be inserted into the tab from a direction that is substantially perpendicular to the edge of the sheet stock. For example, a label may be inserted into the tab from a direction of the sheet stock. In other words, a label may be inserted in a direction that is substantially perpendicular to the edge of the sheet stock. The tab may include a projecting portion that extends beyond the edge of the sheet stock and that is free of openings. A pocket may be formed in the projecting portion to receive a label. In addition, the projecting portion may be curvilinear in shape. The labels may be relatively large so that a proximal portion extends out of the tab. The sheet stock may include retaining structure for retaining the corners of the proximal portion of the label against the sheet stock.

Sheet dividers with enhanced tabs

A photo album is provided having an ink-receptive coating on a surface of the photo album. A user may write text or draw pictures on the surface with an ink pen, such as with a gel-based ink pen. The ink-receptive coating protects the ink from smudging or smearing after the ink has dried. Consequently, the text and/or picture is durable. The writable or drawable surface may be the front or back exterior surface, and/or an interior surface.

Drawable and writable photo album

A customized application of index tabs to dividers and other types of indexing material includes a releasably attachable alignment tool. The alignment tool includes a plurality of indicia printed thereon for guiding the placement of a desired number of index tabs. The indicia indicate by positioning of both numerals and lines where an index tab is to be placed on an indexing material, depending on the number of index tabs that are to be placed. The alignment tool may also be positioned on a sheet and removable from the sheet to align index tabs on different documents. Multiple alignment tools may also be positioned on a sheet and removable to align index tabs on documents of different sizes.

Assembly and method for customized application of index tabs to indexing material

This invention relates to a water-absorbent film construction, comprising: a water-absorbent film layer overlying a base layer, the water-absorbent film layer being comprised of at least about 40% by weight of at least one 2-oxazoline polymer.

Water-absorbent film construction

A paper assembly is formed having an envelope and a carrier portion, such that the overall assembly is a generally flat paper assembly having a length and width of a standard paper size such as 8&frac12; in.&times;11 in. or A-4 size. The assembly, having a footprint equal to a standard paper size, may be fed into a standard size paper tray of a printer such as a laser printer or an ink jet printer, with the printer printing on the front face of the envelop. After printing the envelope may be stuffed with material to be mailed, and the envelope separated from the carrier portion and sealed for mailing. In a first embodiment the carrier is an L-shaped piece of paper that is formed separately from the envelope and releasably adhered to the backside thereof, the L-cut having an acute angle and a rounded corner. In another embodiment the L-shaped carrier is releasably adhered to the front side of the envelope. In another embodiment the entire assembly including the carrier portion and the envelope is formed from a single oversized die cut sheet of paper, folded and glued to create an envelope releasably connected by cuts and ties to the remainder of the assembly to form an assembly having a footprint equal to a standard size sheet of paper, and then loaded into a standard size printer tray for printing on the envelope. After being printed upon the envelope is separated from the carrier portion and sealed for mailing.

Printable envelope with L-shaped addition

The cover of a binder is provided with a coating which is receptive to inks which are water based, solvent based or gel based, and which is substantially water-fast after the ink has dried. A coated transparent sheet may be provided on the front cover of the binder to form a pocket so that visual material inserted in the pocket may be traced, and so that the cover may be personalized. The coating may include porous pigment and a binder which includes as a component a water soluble polymer.

Drawable and/or traceable binder

A binder assembly and manufacturing process thereof includes a front cover, a back cover, a spine, and openings in the assembly for the purpose of placing windows inside the front cover and spine. The front cover, back cover and spine define the space for holding loose-leaf pages. The openings in the front cover and spine define the space for placing loose papers into the front cover and spine. Pockets are included on the inside of the binder assembly for securing additional loose-leaf papers. Manufacturing processes of the binder assembly include methods in which the same material is used for all components and in which different materials are used to manufacture various components in the same process.

Molded binder having windows and pockets

The cover of a binder or album is provided with a coating which is receptive to inks which are water based, solvent based or gel based, and which is substantially water-fast after the ink has dried. A coated transparent or translucent sheet may be provided on the front cover of the binder to form a pocket so that visual material inserted in the pocket may be traced, and so that the cover may be personalized. The coating may include finely divided porous particulates and a binder which includes as a component a water soluble polymer. The coating may be applied to backpacks, zippered binders, and pencil pouches, and to the transparent sheet material overlying photographs mounted in a photo album. Personalized writing or designs may be written or drawn onto the coated products using ink pens of virtually any type.

Tabbed divider having a plurality of transparent display pockets

A machineable envelope assembly includes an envelope and a strip releasably attached to the envelope. The strip extends out from the envelope flap when the strip lies flat relative to the envelope pocket panels to define with the panels a rectangle having a full letter-size paper width. Thus, when the assembly is in a paper tray of a printer or copier, the assembly is configured and sized to engage both sides of the paper tray, so that the envelope is continually aligned and does not skew during a feeding and printing process in the printer or copier. Thereby the address(es) and/or any PC printed postage are printed straight and accurately positioned in the envelope. The assemblies can be stacked into printer infeed trays and automatically fed therefrom for mass printings and mailings. And after being printed and output by the printer, the strips are peeled off of the envelopes, the paper sheet(s) or other desired contents inserted into the envelopes and the envelope flaps sealed closed.

Machineable envelope assembly and method of accurately printing indicia on envelopes

A covered binder assembly in accordance with one exemplary embodiment of the present inventions includes a front cover, a rear cover, and a spine connecting the front and rear covers. The front cover has a window assembly including a transparent sheet mounted thereto. The front cover may be transparent to allow the user to see through front cover into the interior of the binder. The trasparent sheet spans substantially over the front cover to form a front cover pocket between the cover and the transparent sheet. An opening is extended along a comer between the front cover and the spine to provide access to the front cover pocket. A closure arrangement is provided to facilitate the closing of the opening. A second thin transparent sheet forms a spine pocket between the spine and the second transparent sheet. The opening along the corner between the front cover and the spine also provides access to the spine pocket. The window assembly may have additional sheet material secured thereto to provide small pockets, and may be pivoted outward from the cover to provide access to insert visual material into the small pockets.

Binder with reclosable outer transparent window

A customizable leaf for retaining visual material includes a first assembly and a second assembly. Each of the assemblies includes a front sheet and a back sheet attached together to form a margin and an accessible pocket. The sheets are made from an optically transparent material such as polypropylene. The sleeve is adapted to receive a background that may include graphics. The background is visible in the margins when received within the sleeve. One or more backgrounds may be provided, each with graphics, so that a user may select one of the backgrounds and then insert the selected background into the sleeve. When visual material such as a photograph is then inserted into one of the pockets, the background, particularly the graphics, is visible at the margins. The leaf is particularly suitable for albums, such photo albums, scrap books, card-collecting albums, and so on. The leaf may include a binding portion to enable easy binding in, for example, a standard three-ring, strap-bound, or post-bound binder to form such albums.

Customizable album leaves with changeable backgrounds

A covered binder assembly in accordance with one exemplary embodiment of the present inventions includes a front cover, a rear cover, and a spine connecting the front and rear covers. The front cover has a window assembly including a transparent sheet mounted thereto. The front cover may be transparent to allow the user to see through front cover into the interior of the binder. The transparent sheet spans substantially over the front cover to form a front cover pocket between the cover and the transparent sheet. An opening is extended along a corner between the front cover and the spine to provide access to the front cover pocket. A closure arrangement is provided to facilitate the closing of the opening. A second thin transparent sheet forms a spine pocket between the spine and the second transparent sheet. The opening along the corner between the front cover and the spine also provides access to the spine pocket. The window assembly may have additional sheet material secured thereto to provide small pockets, and may be pivoted outward from the cover to provide access to insert visual material into the small pockets.
