And embodiment of the digital camera comprises a touch pad, wherein in which a stylus that is moved relative to the touch pad is detectable by the digital camera. The speed at which the function is performed corresponds to the speed that the stylus is moved relative to the touch pad.

A user provides a plurality of digital images of a single subject all taken from a single location and with common camera settings. This set of digital images is parsed one pixel location at a time. For each pixel location, a set of pixel colors is extracted from each of the plurality of digital images. Using this relationship parameter information, the final desired pixel color is chosen and applied to the pixel location in a final image.

When a control signal to capture a still image is active, still image data are generated and stored in non-volatile storage. A subset of the sensory data in temporary storage is selected and stored in non-volatile storage in association with the still image data.

A camera is provided with a mechanism for supporting a user-controlled exposure mode in which a user can control the exposure time for the picture. A user first places the camera into the user-controlled exposure mode. Then, a user initiates the picture taking process, for example, by depressing a shutter button. When the picture has the desired exposure, the user terminates the picture taking process by, for example, releasing the shutter button. In this manner, the user obtains a picture with the desired exposure without the delay, additional equipment, and guesswork involved in prior art approaches.
