Disclosed are branched polyphosphonates produced using a polycondensation process, that result in polyphosphonates having a Tof at least 100&#xb0; C., and which can be further processed to have improved hydrolytic stability compared to other polyphosphonates. The method and polyphosphonate compositions may be made from readily available starting materials providing lower cost fire retardant materials. Also disclosed are polymer compositions that comprise these branched polyphosphonates and at least one other polymer, wherein the resulting polymer compositions exhibit flame retardant properties.

Branched polyphosphonates

The present invention is directed to a method for analyzing the maintenance status of liquid-filled electric equipment. An accurate indication of the maintenance state of an electric device and its insulating liquid is obtained using an analysis method comprising a particle analysis of suspended particles and sediment contained in the liquid. The analysis method can further comprise a chemical analysis of the insulating liquid. This analysis results in profiles of the liquid that give an accurate indication of the maintenance state of the electric device.

Method for a reliability assessment, failure prediction and operating condition determination of electric equipment

Disclosed are abrasion and impact resistant coating compositions, and substrates coated therewith. These coating compositions provide high abrasion and impact resistance, chemical protection to the substrate, and exhibit enhanced stability to high temperature and high humidity conditions. Coating compositions may also be tailored to provide a balanced combination of abrasion resistance, impact resistance, and weatherability. These coatings may be transparent or not, depending on the intended applications. These coatings may also comprise additives such as UV absorbers, corrosion inhibitors, and electrically conductive materials. Substrates for use herein may be plastic or metal.

Disclosed are branched polyphosphonates produced via a superior transesterification process, and methods related thereto. These branched polyphosphonates exhibit a unique and advantageous combination of properties, such as outstanding fire resistance, improved heat stability, improved toughness, and superior processing characteristics. Also disclosed are polymer compositions that comprise these branched polyphosphonates and at least one other polymer, wherein the resulting polymer compositions exhibit flame retardant properties. Further disclosed are articles of manufacture produced from these polymers, such as fibers, films, coated substrates, moldings, foams, fiber-reinforced articles, or any combination thereof; these articles may be coated with a moisture barrier to enhance their moisture resistance properties.

A new BUTANE LOCK DE-ICER for warming frozen door locks of vehicles for unlocking The inventive device includes a cylindrical container having an opening therethrough with a circular recess disposed around the opening. The container holds an amount of butane therein. A flame system is secured within the opening in the top end of the housing. An ignition system is secured within the cylindrical container in communication with the flame system. A lock receiving receptacle is coupled with respect to the top end of the cylindrical container. The lock receiving receptacle extends through the circular recess through the top end of the container. A safety switch extends inwardly of the cylindrical container disposed below the lock receiving receptacle.

Cryogenic process and apparatus for removing adherent coatings or linings from metallic substrates, especially the interiors of metal vessels or pipes. In one embodiment, a metal vessel having a polymeric interior lining is pressurized to about 900 psi, and the lining is contacted with a cryogenic liquid, preferably carbon dioxide, while this pressure is maintainted. The pressure is high enough so that the cryogenic liquid does not boil. The lining is then subjected to shock by ultrasound, for example. This causes the lining to break up into small particles and fall off the metal substrate. These particles, suspended in the cryogenic liquid, are removed from the pressure vessel and separated from the cryogenic liquid, which can be reused. In another embodiment, the cryogenic liquid is injected into a pipe having an adherent mineral deposit while maintaining a pressure of about 700 psi. A stream of cryogenic liquid containing suspended mineral particles is removed from the pipe.
