An ink-jet printer for printing on a thermoplastic card includes a support on which the card is placed and a printing station includes at least one ink-jet printhead for printing on the card. A reservoir is coupled to the ink-jet printhead and contains an ink comprising: a medium consisting of a low-boiling organic solvent; an auxiliary solvent consisting of a high-boiling organic solvent; and a coloring component soluble in the medium. The support includes a heating system to heat the card during operation of the printing station.

Ink-jet print head for an ink-jet printer including at least a substrate and a photopolymer barrier applied onto the substrate. The photopolymer barrier includes an adhesive first layer and a second layer made of a photopolymerizable material and applied above said first layer. The adhesive first layer is made of a canonically polymerizable material partially polymerized that, when contacted by a water-based ink containing acidic species, is able to further polymerize, thus improving the photopolymer barrier adhesion on the surface of the substrate with time.

The present invention relates to an ink-jet print head able to resist to chemically aggressive solvent-based inks, and to a process for the manufacturing thereof, the ink-jet print head comprising a polymeric material layer defining ink passage ways formed on a substrate, said polymeric material layer being formed by curing a curable resin composition comprising a cyclic aromatic di-functional epoxy resin, a cyclic aliphatic di-functional epoxy resin and a polymerization initiator. The invention also relates to an improved curable resin composition.
