A propylenic polymer according to the present invention or a composition thereof have an excellent melt flowability and contains a less amount of stickiness-causing components, and also has a low modulus and is pliable, and is capable of providing a transparent molded article, thus being useful as a substitute for a pliable vinyl chloride resin. In addition, a molded article made therefrom exhibits an excellent heat seal performance at a low temperature, and is excellent in terms of transparency and rigidity. Specifically, it has an isotactic pentad fraction (mmmm), which indicates a stereoregulariry, of 30 to 80%, a molecular weight distribution (Mw/Mn) of 3.5 or less and an intrinsic viscosity [&#x3b7;] of 0.8 to 5 dl/g.

Propylene polymer and composition containing the same, molded object and laminate comprising these, and processes for producing propylene polymer and composition containing the same

The propylene polymer of the present invention satisfies (1) a 25&#xb0; C. hexane soluble content (H25) of 0-80 wt %; and (2) either no melting temperature (Tm) measurable by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), or a melting temperature (Tm) satisfying, if measurable by DSC, the following relationship: &#x394;H&#x2267;3&#xd7;(Tm&#x2212;120) wherein &#x394;H is a melting endotherm (J/g). The propylene homopolymer of the present invention satisfies (1) a meso pentad fraction (mmmm) of 30-60 mol %; (2) a racemic pentad fraction (rrrr) satisfying the following relationship: [rrrr/(1&#x2212;mmmm)]&#x2266;0.1; (3) a fraction (W25) eluted at a temperatures up to 25&#xb0; C. by temperature-programmed chromatography, of from 20-100 wt %; and, (4) a pentad fraction (rmrm) of more than 2.5 mol %. The propylene copolymer of the present invention satisfies (1) a stereoregularity index (P) of 55-90 mol % as determined byC-NMR measurement; and (2) a fraction (W25) eluted at a temperatures up to 25&#xb0; C. by temperature-programmed chromatography, of from 20-100 wt %.

Propylene polymer, and resin composition and molded product thereof

The &#x3b1;-olefin-aromatic vinyl compound copolymer of the present invention is obtained by using a transition metal compound represented by the following Formula (1) and a promoter component to carry out copolymerization, and it is a novel &#x3b1;-olefin-aromatic vinyl compound copolymer having a low alternating property and a high blocking property, particularly a high blocking property related to the aromatic vinyl compound:wherein Aand Arepresent a cyclopentadienyl group, a substituted cyclopentadienyl group or the like; Yand Yrepresent a substituted or unsubstituted alkylene group or the like, and at least one of them is the substituted or unsubstituted alkylene group; Mrepresents titanium or the like; Xand Xrepresent a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom or the like.

Alpha-olefin-aromatic vinyl copolymer

Provided is a novel olefin copolymer comprising &lsqb;A&rsqb; a cyclic olefin, &lsqb;B&rsqb; an aromatic vinyl compound and &lsqb;C&rsqb; an aliphatic &agr;-olefin having from 2 to 20 carbon atoms. (1) the component &lsqb;A&rsqb; therein accounts for from 0.1 to 30 mol %, the component &lsqb;B&rsqb; for from 0.1 to 49.9 mol %, and the total of the components &lsqb;A&rsqb; and &lsqb;B&rsqb; for from 0.2 to 50 mol %; and (2) the copolymer has a glass transition temperature Tg of lower than 60&deg; C. Having a suitable modulus of elasticity, the copolymer can be a substitute for soft polyvinyl chloride as a soft resin, and it has good elastic recovery and transparency.

There are disclosed a graft copolymer formed by grafting a styrenic monomer onto a high polymer having double bonds in the side chain to constitute highly syndiotactic polystyrenic chain as the graft component, the graft copolymer having a content of graft component of 0.005 to 99% by weight and a reduced viscosity of 0.01 to 30 dl/g as measured at a concentration of 0.05 g/dl in 1,2,4-trichlorobenzene at 135.degree. C. or a melt index of 0.001 to 500 g/10 minutes as measured at 300.degree. C. under a load of 2.16 kg; a process for efficiently producing the above graft copolymer using a catalyst comprising specific components; and a resin composition comprising the above graft copolymer, a highly syndiotactic styrenic polymer or other thermoplastic resin and, when necessary, an inorganic or organic filler. The above graft copolymer and resin composition are excellent in resistance to heat and chemicals, electrical properties, moldability, compatibility, impact resistance, etc.

There are disclosed a styrenic block copolymer having a reduced viscosity of 0.01 to 20 dl/g (0.05 g/l in 1,2,4-trichlorobenzene at 135.degree. C.) which comprises highly syndiotactic styrenic-polymer segments and 10.sup.-4 to 10 mol % of heteroatom-containing styrenic polymer segments; a resin composition comprising the above styrenic block copolymer and a thermoplastic resin, an inorganic filler or an organic filler; a multi-layer material comprising at least one layer composed of the above styrenic block copolymer or the above resin composition; and a process for producing the above styrenic block copolymer which comprises polymerizing a styrenic monomer in the presence of a specific catalyst and adding a heteroatom-containing styrenic monomer to successively proceed with copolymerizaiton reaction. The above-disclosed styrenic block copolymer and the resin composition exhibit excellent compatibility and adhesivenesss, and the multi-layer material is expected to find a wide range of applications in automobile parts, electrical and electronic parts as well as film, sheet, etc.

Styrenic block copolymer and process for producing same

There is provided a process for producing a styrenic graft copolymer which comprises coplymerizing a styrenic monomer and a styrenic monomer having a hydrocarbon radical with an unsaturated bond in the presence of a catalyst comprising as primary ingredient (A) a transition metal compound and (B) a contact product of an organoaluminum compound and a condensation agent or (C) a compound which produces an ionic complex by reacting with the above-mentioned transition metal compound and subsequently graft polymerizing an ethylenically unsaturated monomer onto the resultant styrenic copolymer. The above-described styrenic graft copolymer is greatly improved in terms of compatibility, adhesivity, coatability and wettability while preserving heat resistance and chemical resistance thereof, and thus effective as a variety of constructional materials and compatibilizing agents. Furthermore, the composition or multi-layer material comprising the above-mentioned styrenic graft copolymer is widely utilized in a variety of application field including film, sheet, especially stampable sheet, container, packaging material, automobile parts, electrical and electronic parts, etc.
