A differential case is comprised of: an outer peripheral wall cylindrical about a first axis; a first side wall being perpendicular to the first axis and having a flange; a second side wall having an outer side surface perpendicular to the first axis and being opposed to the first side wall; and an opening opened on the outer peripheral wall so as to allow side gears to be brought in the opening, the opening being so shaped that outlines of pinion gears do not touch a periphery of an oval as an outline of the opening in a case where an axis of the pinion gears is aligned with the center of the oval.

Differential case

A power transmission apparatus is provided with a first rotational member, a second rotational member, a clutch device for coupling a power transmission between the first rotational member and the second rotational member, and a ring shape actuator of the clutch device. A rotational axis of one of the first rotational member and the second rotational member penetrates through a radially internal space of the ring shape actuator.

Power transmission apparatus

A clutch device is used in combination with a differential device. The clutch device is comprised of: a clutch housed in and rotatable with the differential device and axially movable from a disengaged state into an engaged state; a plunger slidably fit on the differential device and being axially movable from a first position where the plunger does not force the clutch to a second position where the plunger forces the clutch into the engaged state; an anti-rotated solenoid configured to drive the plunger; and a retainer supported by the differential device and in contact with both the plunger at the first position and the solenoid, whereby the plunger is barred from going beyond the first position and the solenoid is axially positioned in place.

Clutch device

A differential device for a vehicle includes a differential casing, pinion shaftsconnected to through-holes of the differential casing, pinion gearssupported by the pinion shafts, a differential mechanismhaving side gearsmeshing with the pinion gears, a limited-slip differentialfor limiting a differential rotation of the differential mechanismand an actuatorfor controlling the limited-slip differential. A ring gear is fixed on a flange partof the differential casing. The flange partis positioned on one side of the differential casingin an axial direction of the differential casing disproportionately. The actuatoris arranged so as to abut on the flange part. The differential casingis divided into casing pieces by a parting parton one side of the differential casingin opposition to the flange partin the axial direction. The casing pieces are connected with each other by connecting members

Differential device for vehicle

A clutch device is combinable with a rotating device rotating about an axis. The clutch device is provided with a clutch rotatable with the rotating device, a plunger for disengageably engage the clutch, a solenoid for generating a magnetic flux for driving the plunger, a magnetic core slidably fitting on a portion of the rotating device and incompletely enclosing the solenoid to expose the solenoid to the portion, and a support member configured to support the magnetic core to fit with the rotating device in an axial direction along the axis. The magnetic core in combination with the portion of the rotating device and the plunger is so dimensioned as to enclose the solenoid.

Clutch device and differential device therewith

A junction at which the pinion shafts are connected to each other by themselves is formed in a portion of the rotational axis of an outer rotary member where the pinion shafts meet each other. Therefore, the positional relation of the pinion shafts without any substantial error is reliably secured and maintained, and the uniform transmission of power to the pinion shafts becomes possible. Accordingly, the number of parts is reduced, and it is not necessary to give any heat treatment to the clutch tooth or select any material of high strength therefor.

Differential apparatus

An actuatoris disclosed including a stationary member, a rotational memberdisposed for rotating capability with respect to the stationary member, a movable memberdisposed for movements with respect to the rotational member, a drive power sourcerotating the rotational member, and a converting mechanism disposed between the rotational memberand the movable memberto convert rotation of the rotational member to an operating force for an operative unit.

Actuator

An actuator for engagement and disengagement operation of a power transmission device is provided with a first plate being fixed, a second plate being movable in a direction of the engagement and disengagement operation so as to be engaged with the first plate, a third plate disposed opposite to the second plate with respect to the first plate, the third plate being rotatably engaged with the second plate, a drive unit engageable with the third plate so as to rotate the third plate, a cam mechanism converting a rotation of the third plate to a movement of the second plate in the direction of the engagement and disengagement operation and a retaining device restricting a relative rotation range of the third plate with respect to the drive unit. The second plate moved by the cam mechanism drives the power transmission device in the direction of the engagement and disengagement operation so as to intermit a power transmission thereof.
