A display panel includes an array substrate in which a plurality of pixel electrodes are arranged, and the counter substrate. A non-display area of the array substrate is provided with the transfer electrode for supplying a potential to the counter substrate. The counter substrate includes: a first film; a counter electrode placed closer to the array substrate in relation to the first film, and supplied with the potential from the transfer electrode; and an alignment film stacked on the counter electrode. The counter substrate includes first grooves provided between a display area and a transfer overlapping area overlapping with the transfer electrode, the first grooves penetrating the counter electrode and at least a portion of the first film. The first grooves extend in a first longitudinal direction, and are formed in broken line in the first longitudinal direction.

Display panel and display device

A wiring substrate includes signal input portions for inputting signals, a signal receiving portion that receives the signals input from the signal input portions, and a plurality of connection wires provides connections between the signal input portions and the signal receiving portion. The plurality of connection wires constitutes a connection wire group in which three connection wires are arranged overlapping one another with insulating layers being interposed therebetween, and the connection wire group is provided with a switching contact portion at which transmission paths of the signals respectively input to the connection wires are switched to the other connection wires.

Display panel

A display device includes a display section including a first substrate and a second substrate, the display section displaying an image according to an electric signal, a terminal pad electrically connecting a conductor to a signal source or a ground node, and an information code expressing optically-readable information. The second substrate has a substrate overlapping area overlapping the first substrate in a plan view and a substrate non-overlapping area not overlapping the first substrate. At least a part of the terminal pad serves as a light-transmitting portion. The terminal pad and the information code are disposed in the substrate non-overlapping area on one plate surface of the second substrate such that they overlap each other in a plan view, with the light-transmitting portion covering the information code from above.

Display device

A liquid crystal display panel () includes a TFT substrate (), a CF substrate () facing the TFT substrate (), a frame region around a display region (D), and a sealing material () in the frame region. The frame region includes a wide frame region (F) adjacent to a terminal region (T), and a narrow frame region (F) having a smaller width than the wide frame region (F). A dummy structure () overlapping the sealing material () as viewed from above is in the CF substrate () in the wide frame region (F).

At least one side of a sealing member is formed on an outer edge of a first substrate, and a common transfer terminal portion is formed along at least a part of the sealing member formed on the outer edge of the first substrate.

The invention provides a surface illuminator capable of achieving high display quality by employing an array of discrete light sources constituted by a plurality of LEDs and a liquid crystal display having the same. The surface illuminator includes an LED module which is a plurality of LEDs alternately and discretely provided along a light entrance surface and a color irregularity correcting resistor which is connected in parallel with a predetermined LED at an end of the LED module and which provides a bypass for a current supplied to the LED.

An illuminating device achieves higher brightness by improving the utilization efficiency of light from a light source in an illuminating device for emitting plane-shaped light. The backlight device includes a light guide member, and LED units facing side surfaces of the light guide member, and propagates light that is emitted by the LEDs and made incident to the side surfaces in the light guide member so as to emit plane-shaped light from a first main surface of the light guide member. The backlight device includes an insulating reflective member placed outside a second main surface of the light guide member facing the first main surface, and a metal reflective sheet laminated on the insulating reflective sheet on the side opposite to the light guide member.

An active matrix substrate has: scanning lines extending in row direction and image data lines extending in column direction, formed in display area; semiconductor islands at each cross point and in peripheral circuit area; a first gate insulating film formed on each pixel semiconductor island; a first gate made of a first wiring layer and formed on said first gate insulating film; a second gate insulating film thinner than the first gate insulating film formed on peripheral circuit semiconductor island; and a second gate electrode made of a second wiring layer and formed on the second gate insulating film, wherein the pixel transistor semiconductor island, first gate insulating film and first gate electrode constitute a pixel transistor, and the scanning line includes a lower layer made of the second wiring line and an upper layer made of the first wiring line connected to the lower layer.

Active matrix substrate for display device and its manufacture method

In a TFT substrate partially constituting a liquid crystal panel, gate bus lines and data bus lines are provided in orthogonal directions to each other, and a switching element (TFT) is provided in the vicinity of each of intersecting points of these bus lines. Further, Cs bus lines forming auxiliary capacitances (Cs) together with picture element electrodes each of which is provided for each picture element are provided in the direction parallel to the data bus lines. The gate bus lines, the data bus lines, and the Cs bus lines are provided at equal wiring intervals, respectively, and picture element regions each having the shape of a square are delimited by the Cs bus lines as boundaries.

A liquid-crystal display device is provided. The liquid-crystal display device comprises a first substrate having a pixel electrode, a signal line, a scanning line, and a driver driving one of the signal line and the scanning line, a second substrate opposing the first substrate and having a common electrode, a liquid-crystal layer formed between the pixel electrode and the common electrode, and a first shield placed opposite the driver so as to shield an electromagnetic wave radiated from the driver.

A liquid crystal display device includes a display circuit having data lines and scanning lines arranged in two-dimensional matrix, and switching elements connected between the data lines and the scanning lines. A first inspection circuit is also provided, including an inspection voltage input and/or output terminal for inputting and/or outputting an inspection voltage to/from one ends of the data lines via a first analog switch. A second inspection circuit includes an inspection voltage input and/or output terminal for inputting and/or outputting an inspection voltage to/from the other ends of the data lines. The display circuit, the first inspection circuit, and the second inspection circuit are provided on one substrate, and the first inspection circuit is constructed to be separated from the rest of the display circuit.

Liquid crystal display device

A lens array C has convex lenses and C arranged in alternate and staggering manner to one another. In combination with a condenser lens , the convex lenses form images of respective convex lenses of a lens array on a plane to be illuminated in overlapping so that an illuminance distribution on the plane is almost uniform, while the convex lenses C whose focal length is longer than that of the convex lenses make on the plane an illuminance distribution of a mountain-shape. Flat plate portions and concave lenses may be employed instead of the convex lenses C. A polarization conversion element comprises two elements and an element disposed therebetween with its longitudinal direction being perpendicular to the two element. The images of a light emitting part are included in band-shaped useful incident areas. A polarization conversion section comprises a middle part which is thin but has a larger divergent angle and side parts each has a smaller divergent angle and a simpler construction but is thicker with its size larger.
