A method and an apparatus for cooling blast furnace gas for use in a blast furnace gas treating system having incorporated therein a coarse particle removing unit having a dust collecting box. Nozzles extend through the box as arranged circumferentially thereof at a plurality of locations for injecting a cooling fluid into the unit without wetting the inner wall thereof. Since the unit which has a large capacity is used also as a cooling container, a large quantity of cooling fluid can be injected to effectively cool the blast furnace gas even when the gas has a considerably high temperature. The system can be constructed at a low cost without necessitating any additional cooling container.

Method for cooling blast furnace gas in an heat recovery system

A system for recovering as power the pressure and sensible heat of the gas discharged from the top of a blast furnace by guiding the gas to a dry-type dust collector for the removal of dust while maintaining the gas at the furnace top pressure and introducing the gas into a turbine for expansion. To protect the dry-type dust collector when the gas is run off from the furnace at an abnormally high temperature, a gas channel extending from the furnace to the dust collector is provided with at least one injector, which injects a cooling fluid into the gas in response to a signal from a temperature detecting sensor disposed close to the gas outlet of the dust collector. The sensor which is positioned near the dust collector outlet detects the temperature without the time delay attributable to the deposition of dust. With use of the dry-type dust collector, the gas can be fed to the turbine almost without cooling for the recovery of an increased amount of power.

System for recovering pressure and sensible heat from blast furnace gas

An apparatus for removing non-condensable gas accumulated in the exchanger tubes of a heat exchanger. A vertically elongated tank having retained in its lower portion a liquefied working medium for the exchanger tubes is provided beside the heat exchanger. The tank communicates as its lower portion with the lower ends of the tubes and at its upper portion with the upper ends of the tubes by lines each provided with a valve. A gas release pipe extends downward from outside into the upper portion of the tank through the tank wall. A working medium condensing cooling tube is provided in the upper portion of the tank. The interior of the tank is partitioned into a condensing tank and a tank main body positioned therebelow and having an upper portion communicating with the upper portion of the condensing tank and a lower portion communicating with the lower portion of the condensing tank. The non-condensable gas is withdrawn from the exchanger tubes in portions of progressively increasing pressure and led into the tank, and the gas is released from the tank to the atmosphere through the release pipe after the gas has been withdrawn from all the tubes.

Apparatus for withdrawing gas from heat exchanger having exchanger tubes

High-pressure gas generating apparatus includes a gas generator body provided with a combustion chamber. The gas generator body has a primary propellant injector including orifices for injecting a primary fuel and orifices for injecting a primary oxidizing agent, both the orifices being open to the combustion chamber, an igniter for igniting the primary fuel forced out from the injector, and valve means having a secondary fuel injecting orifice for injecting a metal fuel into a high-temperature gas atmosphere to be reacted therewith and containing a secondary oxidizing agent produced by the reaction of the primary fuel injected from the primary propellant injector with the primary oxidizing agent similarly injected.

Apparatus for generating high-pressure gas

High-pressure gas generating apparatus includes a combustion chamber and a water jacket surrounding the combustion chamber. A metal fuel injecting nozzle is disposed in the center of one end of the combustion chamber. The water in the jacket is injected into the combustion chamber in the form of a swirling stream around the fuel injected from the nozzle.

High-pressure gas generating apparatus includes a combustion engine and a metal fuel storage chamber surrounding the combustion chamber. The combustion chamber has at its one end a metal fuel injecting orifice and water injecting orifices. The fuel injecting orifice communicates with the fuel storage chamber, and the water injecting orifices communicate with a water heating tube extending helically in the interior of the combustion chamber.

Method in which a metal fuel in the form of molten droplets is brought into contact with water for reaction. The fuel comprises aluminum as a primary fuel component and at least one of lithium, magnesium, sodium, potassium and sodium-potassium alloy as an auxiliary fuel component and is used in the form of an alloy or a mixture of these fuel components. When used in the form of an alloy, the fuel is preheated to a molten state and injected into a reactor under high pressure, whereby the fuel is made into droplets and contacted with water vapor introduced into the reactor from another system. For use as a mixture, the fuel is made into a slurry the liquid phase of which consists singly of the auxiliary fuel component, and the slurry is injected into an atmosphere containing water vapor.
