Art exhibition device and a video picture exhibition method which are capable of providing renditions by a spatial image and a projected image, in combination are provided. The exhibition device includes a display portion configured to image-form a spatial image; and a projector configured to project a video picture onto an object. The video picture exhibit ion method using the exhibition device provides a video picture related to the spatial image projected from the projector disposed in a position hang over the display portion toward an upper surface of the display portion. The display portion is configured to image-form a video picture displayed on a display surface of a display disposed in an attitude inclined under a micromirror array through the micromirror array disposed in light-transmissive fashion as a spatial two-dimensional video picture standing up obliquely in a spatial position lying over the micromirror array.

Exhibition device and video picture exhibition method

In an exhibition device and a video picture exhibition method according to the present invention, at least one exhibition object for reinforcing the three-dimensional effect of a spatial image is disposed in a region other than an upper surface of an image-forming optical element (micromirror array) in an upper surface of an enclosure (case) of the device and at a position where a distance from the center of a virtual display area of the spatial image projected from a display to over the enclosure thereto is not greater than a diagonal length of the virtual display area or at a position where the distance is not greater than a maximum diameter of the virtual display area. This achieves the effective display of an impressive two-dimensional video picture appearing three-dimensional in association with the exhibition object disposed on the upper surface.

A display device includes: an image-forming optical element provided in light-transmissive fashion in an upper surface of an enclosure; a display dispose in an attitude inclined at a predetermined inclination angle with respect to a lower surface of the image-forming optical element; a reader for reading information held by an information holding element in a non-contacting manner; a sensor for sensing whether an object is present on the upper surface of the enclosure or not; and a controller which controls display on the display. The controller prepares an image corresponding to the information holding element, based on the information held therein and transmitted from the reader. The controller causes the prepared image to be displayed as a spatial image at an appropriate moment, based on an object detection signal transmitted from the sensor.

Display device

A portable information device case according to the present invention includes three plate-like members: a holder part for housing a portable information device (smartphone) therein, a cover part for covering the holder part, and an optical panel part including an image-forming optical element (micromirror array) fitted therein in light-transmissive fashion. When these members are combined together to have a predetermined shape, the optical panel part is held in an attitude inclined at a predetermined angle with respect to a display surface of the smartphone. Thus, the case allows selection with ease between a usage form in which an image appearing on the display surface is projected as a spatial image and a storage form in which these members are folded and stacked so that the entire case is made compact. The portable information device case according to the present invention is easy to carry.

Portable information device case and video picture display device case

A presentation device according to the present invention includes a panel-shaped image-forming optical element and a flat panel display, and forms a video picture (image) appearing on the display as a spatial image in space over the image-forming optical element. Between the upper surface of the image-forming optical element and the spatial image, a plate (guide plate) having an opening corresponding to the planar shape of the image-forming optical element is disposed at an attitude inclined upwardly from the front toward the back side with respect to the image-forming optical element, whereby the spatial image floats up through the opening of the guide plate. This allows anyone to view a three-dimensional spatial image rich in a sense of depth without experience and skill automatically in an appropriate direction from an appropriate position.

Presentation device including a plate

A micromirror array according to the present invention is a corner reflector type micromirror array capable of projecting a mirror image of an object to be projected sharply with high luminance. The micromirror array includes a substrate, and a plurality of unit optical elements (quadrangular prisms) formed in an array on the substrate. Each of the unit optical elements is of a protruding or recessed shape perpendicular to the surface of the substrate. The unit optical elements has two side surfaces orthogonal to each other on opposite sides of a corner of the side surfaces, and the two side surfaces are light reflecting surfaces. Each of the light reflecting surfaces is of a rectangular shape such that the ratio of the vertical length thereof as measured in a substrate thickness direction to the horizontal width thereof as measured in a substrate surface direction is not less than 1.5.

Micromirror array

A manufacturing method for a micromirror array includes: preparing transparent flat substrates; attaching each of the substrates at a predetermined position of a machining stage of a dicing machine; sequentially forming parallel linear grooves arranged at intervals in one surface of each substrate; and stacking the substrates together so that the directions in which the linear grooves of the respective substrates extend are orthogonal to each other as seen in plan view. The substrates are stacked together in a manner selected from the group consisting of: the front surface of one of the substrates and the back surface of the other substrate are joined together for the stacking of the substrates; the front surfaces of the respective substrates are joined together for the stacking of the substrates; and the back surfaces of the respective substrates are joined together for the stacking of the substrates.

Micromirror array, manufacturing method for micromirror array, and optical elements used in micromirror array

In an optical waveguidewith a light-emitting element to be used in the present invention, a core includes: a main path; and a plurality of branched paths branched at a plurality of branched points from the main path. The main path has two sides faced to each other, in which one side has a plurality of branched points and the other side does not have any branched points. The plurality of branched points are provided on a straight line substantially parallel to a light guiding direction of the main path. The width of the main path becomes narrower as the main path moves away from a light-emitting element. An angle &#x3b8; formed by the other side without a branched point and the light guiding direction of the main path is 0.3 to 1.7&#xb0;.

Optical waveguide with light-emitting element and optical touch panel with the same

A suspension board with circuit includes a circuit board and an optical waveguide provided in the circuit board. The optical waveguide is provided with a first optical waveguide having a curved portion and a secondary optical waveguide having a linear portion. The first optical waveguide includes a first under clad layer, a first core layer formed on the first under clad layer and included in the first under clad layer when projected in the thickness direction, and a first over clad layer formed on the first under clad layer so as to cover the first core layer. The secondary optical waveguide includes a secondary under clad layer, a secondary core layer formed on the secondary under clad layer, and a secondary over clad layer formed on the secondary core layer and included in the secondary core layer when projected in the thickness direction.

Suspension board with circuit

An optical waveguide device of the present invention comprises: an optical waveguide including a plurality of cores configured to emit outgoing light from distal ends thereof; and a light-receiving element including a plurality of photo diodes configured to receive the outgoing light. Respective pitches Lbetween adjacent cores are greater than pitches Lbetween adjacent photo diodes. At least one photo diode on which only outgoing light of each core is incident is present with respect to each of the cores.

Optical waveguide device

An optical waveguide device is provided which is capable of distributing light beams from a light source equally to long and short sides of a rectangular panel and which does not require a high degree of accuracy for alignment between the light source and a core. The optical waveguide device includes the light source provided on an edgewise extending frame part of a rectangular panel, and an optical waveguide provided on the frame part and including the branched core having a common portion closer to the light source, the branched core being divided from the common portion into a first core portion and a second core portion orthogonal to each other. The common portion is disposed at a corner of the frame part. The second core portion has a width greater than the width of the first core portion.

In an optical coordinate input apparatus, beams emitted from one light emitting element are simultaneously guided through a plurality of cores provided at a waveguide to edges on Y-side and X-side of light emitting sides of an operational area, a light receiving element group includes light receiving elements corresponding respectively to cores aligned on Y-side of light receiving sides and light receiving elements corresponding respectively to cores aligned on X-side of the light receiving sides of the operational area, a scan is performed on each of the light receiving elements sequentially so as to detect presence or absence of a light shielding signal, and a scan time for the scan of all the light receiving elements included in the light receiving element group is set to be not more than 1 ms.

An apparatus, an optical touch panel, a waveguide, and a process for producing a double layered waveguide structure are provided.
