A bone mill has a pair of cutter units, a first cutter unit and a second cutter unit. A bone to be crushed is taken in between the first cutter unit and the second cutter unit. While passing between the first cutter unit and the second cutter unit, the bone is crushed. Each cutter unit has a plurality of disks disposed in parallel to one another at regular intervals. Each disk is provided on the periphery thereof with blades for crushing the bone. The cutter units are positioned such that the disks of the first cutter unit are fitted in the gaps between adjacent disks of the second cutter unit. Both the disks of the first cutter unit and the disks of the second cutter unit are mutually inwardly rotated. Accordingly, when a bone to be crushed is supplied between the cutter units, the bone is taken in by and between the disks of the first cutter unit and the disks of the second cutter unit, both sets of disks being mutually inwardly rotated. Thus, the blades of the disks bite the bone, causing the bone to be broken. While passing between the disks of the first cutter unit and the disks of the second cutter unit, the bone is crushed by these disks so positioned as to be fitted in each other.

Bone-mill

The present invention provides a femoral prosthesis to be utilized as an implant into a human femur to connect the coxa. The femoral prosthesis comprises a stem body to be inserted into a femur bone, a neck portion fixed integrally at the proximal portion of the stem body, a spherical head member having an opening to receive the neck potion, and a cross pin for fixing the stem body to the femur bone, wherein the stem body is formed with a pinnig hole through a proximal portion thereof corresponding to a greater trochanter of the femur bone, and the cross pin is in a unthreaded cylindrical shape and inserted into the pinning hole, both ends of the cross pin being projected out of the stem body to be engaged with the bone wall of the femur bone.

Femoral prosthesis device

A prosthesis for the replacement of hard tissues of human bones and joints, comprising a porous lamination component of metal thin sheets, each having a plurality of through holes and a thickness of 150 .mu.m or less, and being unharmful to the living body, the porous lamination component being formed such that the sheets are laid over one another and are then diffusion-bonded therebetween into one body by heating so that the through holes communicate with one another in the direction of the thickness thereof, and the prosthesis being entirely or partially composed of the porous lamination component. The present invention also relates to a method of making such a prosthesis. The present invention can provide prostheses which are not required to be replaced again, thereby imposing a less burden to patients.

An acetabular socket of an artificial hip joint including an acetabular socket, a stem and a stem head, wherein the acetabular socket takes a form of a virtually inverted bowl-shaped shell or a hemispherical shell as a whole, the opening edge of the socket has outer flanges at regular intervals along the circumference thereof, and the outer flange has vertical and horizontal concave grooves on the surface thereof. With this acetabular socket, the outer flanges provided along the opening edge and the vertical and horizontal concave grooves provided on the outer flanges increase the contact area between the socket and the cortex bone, thereby raising the strength for supporting the acetabular socket. This disclosure also includes an acetabular socket, wherein a coating layer comprised of living body activation material, such as apatite, is coated on the outer flanges and the shell of the acetabular socket.
