An energy storage apparatus includes an outer case that accommodates an energy storage device and a reinforcing member. The reinforcing member includes the pair of reinforcing walls disposed so as to sandwich the two wall portions of the outer case from an outside of the outer case, the two wall portions opposedly facing each other, and the connecting portion connecting the pair of reinforcing walls to each other.

Energy storage apparatus

An energy storage device includes a positive electrode terminal, a first electrode body and a second electrode body, and a positive electrode current collector electrically connecting the positive electrode terminal and the first and second electrode bodies. The positive electrode current collector includes a terminal connection portion electrically connected to the positive electrode terminal, inner electrode body connection portions connected to the first and second electrode bodies, and a coupling portion extending from an end of the terminal connection portion and coupling the terminal connection portion and the inner electrode body connection portions. The coupling portion has a substantially trapezoidal shape with a width at a connection end with the end of the terminal connection portion being larger than a width at a connection end with the inner electrode body connection portions.

Energy storage device

Provided is an energy storage device including a container with high productivity and satisfactory corrosion resistance. In the energy storage device including the container housing an electrode assembly having a positive electrode and a negative electrode, and electrolyte solution, the container is made of stainless steel including 0.09% by weight or more aluminum and has welded portions and where the stainless steel is welded.

A battery includes positive and negative external terminals having exposed portions exposed from a casing to the outside, positive and negative current collectors connected to the external terminals, and electrode assemblies having positive and negative electrodes and a separator. The positive and negative electrodes are wound with the separator being interposed so as to have positions shifted to opposite sides in a width direction to the separator. Formed in the casing is a narrowly elongated gap extending between the positive current collector side and the negative current collector side. The positive electrode side of the gap is closed by a closure member. A foreign material is prevented from moving without decreasing an electric capacity of the battery and deteriorating injection property of an electrolytic solution.

A connecting body for electrically connecting a power generating element and an electrode terminal positioned on a surface of a device container for housing the power generating element, the connecting body including: a plate portion positioned on the surface of the device container; and a protruding portion being in a position on a surface of the plate portion and displaced from a position of the electrode terminal, and having a tip end protruding to face the power generating element and a base with a peripheral edge surrounded with a principal face of the plate portion.

A battery comprises: a container including a bottom portion, long-sidewall portions each standing on a corresponding one of longer side portions of the bottom portion, short-sidewall portions each standing on a corresponding one of two shorter side portions of the bottom portion, and a welded portion in which portions of a flat plate are mutually welded; an electrode assembly housed in the container; an electrode terminal; and a lid closing the container, the container having a cuboid shape, the bottom portion being rectangular, the long-sidewall portions each being rectangular, the short-sidewall portions each being rectangular, the flat plate being made of metal and being folded, and the portions of the flat plate being mutually abutting or overlapping.

Disclosed is a method for manufacturing a cell which includes: a first step of manufacturing a core using a core manufacturing apparatus, the apparatus including a pair of winding shafts disposed with a rotation center of the apparatus interposed therebetween, the pair of winding shafts orbitally moving about the rotation center; and a second step of fabricating a laminated electrode member with a sheet-shaped positive electrode, a sheet-shaped negative electrode and a pair of sheet-shaped separators interposed thereto to be arranged alternately with the electrodes; and winding the laminated electrode member around a circumferential surface of the core. The first step includes: inserting a sheet having a higher strength than the separators between the winding shafts; orbitally moving the pair of winding shafts; and adhesively bonding or melt-bonding overlapped portions of the sheet at the winding shafts.

An energy storage device includes an electrode assembly, a container that contains the electrode assembly therein, a metallic cover member that closes the opening of the container and has a first fitting portion, and a current collector having a second fitting portion that is fitted to the first fitting portion in a fitted state. Thus, the compact energy storage device having a large capacity can suppress the positional deviation between the cover member and the current collector.

Provided is a battery cell that allow the inner surfaces of connection strips of a current collector to be brought into contact with the outermost circumferential surface of a layered electrode portion of a power generating element while preventing the connection strips from scratching the layered electrode portion. The battery cell includes: a power generating element formed of cathode and anode sheets that are wound up with a separator interposed between the cathode and anode sheets, the power generating element having a layered electrode portion on at least one side of the winding axis direction, the layered electrode portion being one of a cathode and an anode; a current collector having a connection strip arranged along an outermost circumferential surface of the layered electrode portion, the current collector being conductively connected to an external terminal; and a clamp including a first clamp portion that clamps the layered electrode portion and a second clamp portion that clamps the layered electrode portion clamped by the first clamp portion and the connection strip of the current collector together.

A cell such as a nonaqueous electrolytic secondary cell includes a plurality of power-generating elements which each include a strip-like positive electrode and a strip-like negative electrode that are both wound into an elliptic cylinder with a separator being interposed therebetween, where each power-generating element has a peripheral face including at least a flat portion. The cell also includes a cell case for housing the power-generating elements, where the cell case has an opening, and a cover hermetically sealing the opening of the cell case. The flat portion of each power-generating element is superposed on the flat portion of the adjacent power-generating element, and a sheet member is wound around peripheries of the superposed power-generating elements to fasten the power-generating elements such that the power-generating elements are integrated.
