A controller for an internal combustion engine is configured to execute a determination process that determines that a deviation between a first change amount and a second change amount during a fuel cutoff operation is less than or equal to a threshold, and an anomaly diagnosing process that determines that an exhaust purification device is in a detached state when the determination process determines that the deviation is less than or equal to the threshold. The first change amount and the second change amount are change amounts per unit time of the temperature of exhaust gas on the upstream side and the downstream side of the exhaust purification device, respectively. The controller is configured to interrupt the determination process when the upstream-side temperature increases within a determination period.

Controller and control method for internal combustion engine

A controller for an internal combustion engine is configured to execute a determination process and an anomaly diagnosing process. The determination process is a process of determining that a deviation between a first change amount and a second change amount during a fuel cutoff operation is less than or equal to a threshold. The anomaly diagnosing process is a process of determining that an exhaust purification device is in a detached state when it is determined in the determination process that the deviation is less than or equal to the threshold. An internal combustion engine comprises an engine body, a filter provided in an exhaust passage of the engine body and trapping particulate matter in the exhaust, and a temperature sensor detecting a temperature of gas flowing cut from the filter. A control device controlling this internal combustion engine comprises a fuel cut control pan configured to perform fuel cut control stopping a supply of fuel to a combustion chamber of the engine body and a forced ending part configured to forcibly make the fuel cut control end even if a condition for performance of fuel cut control had stood based on a trend in change of temperature of the gas temperature detected by the temperature sensor.

Exhaust purification system of internal combustion engine

An exhaust purification system of an internal combustion engine comprises a filter trapping particulate matter in exhaust gas, a differential pressure sensor detecting a differential pressure before and after the filter or a differential pressure between a pressure in the exhaust passage and an atmospheric pressure, a temperature sensor detecting a temperature of exhaust gas, and a deposition calculating part configured to calculate an amount of particulate matter deposited at the filter. The deposition calculating part is configured to calculate a first estimated value of an amount of the particulate matter based on the differential pressure, calculate a second estimated value of an amount of the particulate matter based on an amount of increase of temperature of the exhaust gas, and calculate an amount of the particulate matter based on the first estimated value and the second estimated value.

A control device for an internal combustion engine is configured, where a designated cam switching condition is met, to execute a boost pressure control processing and an air amount control processing. In the boost pressure control processing, the control device controls a boost pressure control device such that a boost pressure control parameter does not increase in synchronization with execution of a cam switching operation and decreases in accordance with an increase of a required engine torque after the execution of the cam switching operation. The control device is configured, in causing the cam switching device to perform a cam switching operation, to perform energization of the actuator such that the engagement pin is seated on a forward outer peripheral surface, and to more lower, when an electric current (coil current) flowing through the actuator as a result of the energization is greater, an average electric voltage per unit time applied to the actuator in protruding the engagement pin toward the cam groove from the forward outer peripheral surface.

An electronic control unit of a control device for an internal combustion engine executes, for a first cycle, first drive processing for controlling an actuator such that a pin drive operation is executed for switching from a first cam to a second cam, executes second drive processing for controlling the actuator such that the pin drive operation is executed again for a second cycle, and executes abnormality determination processing for determining that a cam switching mechanism has an abnormality in a case where a pin returns to a reference position by using a pin return section following a cam switching section of the first cycle after the execution of the first drive processing and the pin returns to the reference position by using the pin return section following the cam switching section of the second cycle after the execution of the second drive processing.

In a system that selects a large-cam as a driving cam at a time of a start of an engine, when an engine stop request is output, it is determined whether there is a small-cam cylinder for which a small-cam is selected as the driving cam. In a case where it is determined that there is a small-cam cylinder, a switching command for switching the driving cam from the small-cam to the large-cam is output. When an engine start request is output, the above determination is performed again. In a case where it is determined that there is a small-cam cylinder, the switching command is output to all solenoid actuators again. In addition, the drive of the fuel injector is suspended until the switching operation of the driving cam is completed for all cylinders.

Internal combustion engine system

An internal combustion engine system is provided with a cam switching device including a cam groove provided on the outer peripheral surface or a camshaft and an actuator capable of protruding, toward the camshaft, an engagement pin that is engageable with the cam groove. The internal combustion engine system is configured, in causing the cam switching device to perform a cam switching operation, to control the actuator such that the engagement pin is seated on a forward outer peripheral surface which is located more forward than an end of the cam groove on the forward side with respect to an insert section of the cam groove in the rotational direction of the camshaft.

At crank angle CAat which the switch request of the drive cam was issued, the ejection operations of the pins at all the solenoid actuators started simultaneously. The ejected pins are seated on the cam carriers at crank angle CA. The pin seated on the cam carrier moves along the grooves in accordance with the rotation of the cam carrier. The earliest finish timing of the switch operation of the drive cam is at crank angle CA(#4 cylinder). At the crank angle CA, drive of the fuel injector and the ignition device in each cylinder is permitted.

When a stop request to the engine is issued, it is determined whether or not all of the drive cams are large cams. When it is determined that at least one of the small cams is included in the drive cams, the engine is continued to drive for a while and a switch control for switching the drive cams from the small cams to the large cams is executed within the duration. A self-holding type solenoid is used to switch between the small cams and the large cams. In the switch control, a permission to stop the engine is output at a timing when the 'pin protrudable section' of the final cylinder #has elapsed.

Internal combustion engine control system

An object is to carry out an abnormality diagnosis for a variable compression ratio mechanism without adding any special hardware configuration for estimating a compression ratio. An abnormality diagnostic device for a variable compression ratio mechanism adapted to be applied to an internal combustion engine comprises a controller configured to calculate a predetermined rotational speed difference which is a rotational speed difference, between an engine rotational speed at a predetermined crank angle before or after compression top dead center and an engine rotational speed in the vicinity of the compression top dead center for a predetermined cylinder at the time of carrying out fuel cut processing, set a reference range of the predetermined rotational speed difference, and make a diagnosis that abnormality has occurred in the variable compression ratio mechanism when the predetermined rotational speed difference is out of the reference range.
