Light source

A backlight comprises a light guide plate and a light emitting element. The light guide plate has a first main surface, a second main surface opposite the first main surface, and a side surface connecting the first main surface and the second main surface, the side surface having a first region and a second region different from the first region. The light emitting element emits light toward the first region of the side surface of the light guide plate. The side surface of the light guide plate includes, in the second region of the side surface of the light guide plate, a first inclined surface that extends from an outer edge of the first main surface in an inclined manner and has an inclination angle between 52&#xb0; and 83&#xb0; with respect to the first main surface.

A display device comprises a display component, a light source, an optical element, and a first reflective member. The optical element is positioned in a light emission direction from the light source. The first reflective member is positioned rearward of the display component. The first reflective member includes a first opening and a second opening that is continuous with the first opening and in which the light source is positioned. A width of the optical element is smaller than a width of the first opening and is larger than a width of the second opening in a first direction.

Display device

A display device includes a display, at least one light source, and a light source disposition component. The display displays image. The at least one light source emits light to the display. The at least one light source is disposed on the light source disposition component, with the light source disposition component having a trapezoidal cross-sectional shape.

A lighting device includes at least one light source, and a lens. The lens directs light emitted from the at least one light source. The lens has a concave component with an inner bottom face and an inner face, the light emitted from the at least one light source being incident on the concave component, an emission face located on an opposite side from the concave component, and an outer face located to the side of the concave component. The inner face forms a convex face that faces toward inside of the concave component. The outer face reflects the light that has entered the lens through the inner face toward the emission face.

Lighting device and display device

A display device includes a display and at least one light source. The display displays image. The at least one light source emits light to the display. The at least one light source includes a semiconductor element with a substrate, a translucent sealing resin that covers the semiconductor element, and a reflective layer that is disposed on an upper face of the sealing resin.

A reflective sheet includes a bottom portion; a plurality of inclined portions disposed at an incline from a periphery of the bottom portion; and a fold disposed in a predetermined position on the reflective sheet at a predetermined position in a direction orthogonal to a surface of the bottom portion.

Reflective sheet, display device and reflective member

A display device includes a display component, a plurality of light sources, a flat optical member, a rear side support member, and a reflective sheet. The light sources are disposed on a rear side of the display device relative to the display component. The light sources irradiate the display component with light. The light sources are arranged with respect to the rear side support member such that among light emitted towards the display component from an edge-side light source that is disposed closest to an edge portion of the rear side support member out of the light sources, light emitted at a brightness that is at least half of an maximum brightness of the edge-side light source reaches an edge portion of the flat optical member corresponding to the edge portion of the rear side support member.

A display device includes a display component, a light source, a rear side support member, and a reflective sheet. The light source is disposed on a rear side of the display device relative to the display component. The reflective sheet includes a bottom face part, a first side face part and a second side face part. The first and second side face parts have first and second protrusions at adjacent end edge portions of the first and second side face parts, respectively. The first protrusion overlaps with the end edge portion of the second side face part from the rear side while the reflective sheet is attached to the rear side support member. The second protrusion overlaps with the end edge portion of the first side face part from the rear side while the reflective sheet is attached to the rear side support member.

An optical pickup device includes a first optical system and a second optical system. The first optical system and the second optical system each include a mirror member that reflects light from a light source to change a direction of propagation of the light to a direction substantially perpendicular to the information storage surface of an optical disc. The first optical system and the second optical system are arranged such that a direction in which light from a first light source enters a first mirror member is substantially perpendicular to a direction in which light from a second light source enters a second mirror member.

Optical pickup device

In the invention, a movable lens varying the rate of convergence or divergence of light reaching an objective lens by moving in an optical axis direction has its position adjusted to correspond to ambient temperature. The objective lens is arranged to be tilted with respect to an optical axis of light reaching the objective lens from the movable lens. First coma aberration of which the amount produced varies according to movement of the movable lens, and second coma aberration of which the amount produced varies due to variation in the warping state of an optical disc that is caused along with variation in ambient temperature both occur in the radius direction of the optical disc, and the objective lens has its tilting direction adjusted such that the first coma aberration and the second coma aberration have their increasing and decreasing directions of the amount of coma aberration produced with respect to variation in ambient temperature reversed.

An optical pickup is so constructed as to have an LD (Laser Diode), an LD plate for fixing the LD, and a base to which the LD and the LD plate are mounted, and a heat dissipation plate made of sheet metal is provided so as to be kept in contact with the LD.

Optical pickup and optical disk apparatus incorporating the same

An optical pickup includes a radiating plate made to abut against a rear surface of a laser diode by positioning an engaging hole provided penetratingly in a central portion of the radiating plate concentrically with the laser diode. Slits are formed in the radiating plate to form a pair of tongues in the manner of point symmetry about an axis of the engaging hole. Screw insertion portions formed in the respective tongues are communicates with the slits. As screws are passed through the screw inserting portions and are screwed in, the radiating plate is secured to the base. When the screws are screwed in, the axis is positioned on a phantom line connecting points of application of force generated at proximal end portions of the tongues. Distances from the axis to the respective points of application of force are set to be substantially identical.

Optical pickup

An optical pickup has a pair of left and right leg portions formed integrally at both side edge portions of a rear end portion of a resilient plate. The leg portions extend forwardly along a horizontal longitudinal direction. A pair of fixing holes are penetratingly provided in the respective leg portions on a transverse phantom line passing through a central portion of the resilient plate and extending in a horizontal transverse direction and at positions spaced apart an equal interval from a longitudinal phantom line passing through the central portion of the resilient plate and extending in the horizontal longitudinal direction. A pair of fixing screws are screwed into a pair of threaded holes in a mounting surface of a base through the fixing holes, thereby fixing the leg portions to the mounting surface.
