In the conventional distributed control system, since each control device updates the data area at a timing when a control packet is received, in a case where there is a difference in communication delay between the control devices or in a case where the communication delay includes jitter, it is difficult to match the contents of data in all the control devices in a case of focusing on a certain moment during system operation. Therefore, depending on the start timing of a control application, the control application operates on the basis of different data between the control devices, thus limiting control performance improvement. Accordingly, time slots on the network are allocated according to the result of a calculation unit, and a cyclic memory synchronization update unit synchronizes the timing of reflecting data in the input/output and the cyclic memory and the timing of using data of a cyclic memory.

A multistage relay communication systemincludes a trunk networkand branch networks(), each of which includes one or more communication apparatuses. A communication device reduces a processing time required at the time of mutually converting different wireless or wired communication protocol and improves a real-time property. The communication device includes two or more communication units which communicate with two or more external devices and a communication controller which processes communication data. The communication controller has table information that associates a communication path, a type of the communication unit, and conversion-info, and an input and output unit that inputs and outputs the table information. According to the added conversion-info, a conversion unit sequentially performs various conversion processes (protocol conversion, routing, communication quality evaluation, fragmentation/integration of communication interface, fragment/defragment process, frame multiplication/integration, and frequency setting).

A processing unit is connected to another processing unit through a system bus composed of serial signal communication line and synchronization signal communication line to be able to communicate therewith. When an operation unit detects abnormal state in the processing unit, the operation unit supplies notification of detection of the abnormal state to synchronization unit. The synchronization unit transmits the received detection notification of abnormal state to the other processing unit through the synchronization signal communication line. Conversion unit receives parallel communication data from the operation unit through important signal line instead of general signal line and converts the received parallel signal into serial signal to be transmitted to the other processing unit through the serial signal communication line, thereby soundness among processing units connected to the system bus is ensured when the system bus is configured to attain serial communication.
