A joined body of dissimilar metals, in which a flared joint is formed and which have a high joint strength, is provided. The joined body contains a first metal member having a curved surface portion, a second metal member having a higher melting point than the first metal member and joined to the first metal member to form the flared joint, and a joining metal portion formed by irradiating the first metal member and a filler material disposed between the first and second metal members with a laser. An intermetallic compound formed at the interface between the second metal member and the joining metal portion has a thickness of at most 3 &#x3bc;m. A melted portion and a non-melted portion are formed in the curved surface portion of the first metal member in which the flared joint is formed.

Joined body of dissimilar metals and method for producing joined body of dissimilar metals

In the bonding of an aluminum alloy material () to a steel material () by TIG welding, a tungsten electrode () which has a tip having a diagonally cut tip face () and asymmetrical to the electrode center axis () is used. The tungsten electrode () is oriented toward the welding line from the upper side of the aluminum alloy material () in such a manner that the tip face side of the tungsten electrode () faces the aluminum alloy material () side and the tip () of the tip face () faces the steel material () side. In this manner, an arc () from the tip () is directed to the steel material () side.

Method for bonding dissimilar metals to each other

A metal mold is disposed adjacent to the outer circumference of a base ring, and has a molding face in the inner circumference and a plurality of grooves for forming beads on the molding face along the circumferential direction. A coil for electromagnetic forming is disposed adjacent to the inner circumference of the base ring. When a momentary large current is applied to the coil in this arrangement, the diameter of the base ring is expanded by pressing the base ring toward the molding face of the metal mold such that the base ring is molded into a shape corresponding to the molding face by electromagnetic forming. Improvements such as a metal mold capable of degassing, a separable metal mold, roll-correcting after electromagnetic forming, application of momentary large current over several times, a metal mold with a cutting blade, use of a base ring with a large number of holes, and a metal mold with positioning means are then added. With these improvements, a highly accurate cylindrical ring with beads can be produced at low cost and with high productivity.
