A tuning control apparatus for a digital automatic scanning tuner or a digital preset tuner employing a voltage controlled variable capacitance diode as a tuning element, wherein a tuning state detecting circuit is provided for detecting a tuning state responsive to a first signal which assumes the high level when the actual tuning frequency of the tuner falls in a predetermined frequency range which is higher than the correct tuning frequency being received and a second signal which assumes the high level when the actual tuning frequency of the tuner falls in a predetermined frequency range which is lower than the correct tuning frequency being received, and when the tuner is to be tuned to the frequency of a given broadcasting signal a tuning voltage being applied to the voltage controlled variable capacitance diode is varied in the upward or the downward direction, whereby the lower end of the second signal or the upper end of the first signal is detected, whereupon the lower end of the first signal or the upper end of the second signal is detected, when the tuning voltage is changed in the reversed direction, whereupon the upper end of the second signal or the lower end of the first signal is detected, just when the tuning voltage is determined as achieving a tuning operation by the tuner to the correct tuning frequency.

Tuning control apparatus for digital tuner

A superheterodyne receiver comprising a high frequency amplifier, a local oscillator implemented by a frequency synthesizer including a phase locked loop, a mixer, an intermediate frequency amplifier, an up down counter for providing data concerning frequency division rate of a programmable counter in the phase locked loop, characterized in that the up down counter is structured such that the counter is responsive to a command signal from an upward scanning switch to make an upward counting operation and is responsive to a command signal from a downward scanning switch to make a downward counting operation and is further responsive to command signals simultaneously obtained from these two upward and downward scanning switches to make a consecutive upward or downward counting operation, whereby a receiving channel is consecutively selected in the upward or downward direction in a fast scanning manner. Preferably, a fast scanning operation responsive to simultaneous depression of the two upward and downward scanning switches is stopped responsive to a receiving signal such as an intermediate frequency signal or a detected signal obtained when a broadcasting channel is selected. Preferably, a digital channel display is provided such that the data representative of the channel being selected obtainable from a control is transferred in a bit serial signal format to the display, wherein the pulses having a pulse width wider than a predetermined value are utilized for the purpose of data processing, thereby to eliminate any adverse affect due to noise during the transmission of the data.

A frequency synthesizer for use in a transmitter/receiver, comprising a voltage controlled oscillator, a programmable frequency divider for dividing the frequency of the output from the voltage controlled oscillator, a reference oscillator, a reference counter for dividing the frequency of the output from the reference oscillator, a phase detector for phase detecting the frequencies of the reference counter and the frequency divider for providing a control voltage to said voltage controlled oscillator, a transmitting/receiving mode selection circuit for selectively controlling the programmable frequency divider such that the frequency division rate thereof is different in the transmitting and receiving modes, a channel designating circuit, a first output terminal for withdrawing an output by mixing the output from the voltage controlled oscillator with the output from the reference oscillator, and a second output terminal for directly withdrawing the output from the voltage controlled oscillator, said transmitting/receiving mode selection circuit comprising a transmitter/receiver selection switch, and full adder means or a read only memory for storing in advance information concerning the frequency division rate of the frequency divider based on the output from the transmitter/receiver selection switch and the output from the channel designating circuit.

A system and method for determining vendibility in an automatic vending machine, comprising: a coin sorter, coin detectors for sorted coins, coin reservoirs for sorted coins, empty switches provided to the respective coin reservoirs, said coins comprising three kinds of coins, 100 yen, 50 yen and 10 yen coins, a change pay off mechanism for paying off change using said reserved coins in said reservoirs, commodity price setting means, a counter for counting the number of received 50 yen coins, a counter for counting the number of received 10 yen coins, a signal generator for generating information of the total amount of received coins based on coin detecting signals, a signal generator for generating unit information associated with 10 yen, and a subtractor for sequentially subtracting said unit information from said total amount information, wherein availability of received coins as change is determined at each stage of said sequential subtraction, whereby vendibility for the respective amount at each stage of the sequential subtraction is determined.
