Provided is an equipment life diagnostic device which assists in estimating operating conditions that are factors in determining the remaining life of equipment. This equipment life diagnostic device is provided with: an actual life consumption calculation unit which calculates the actual life consumption of equipment when the equipment is operating; an assumed life consumption setting unit which sets an assumed life consumption on the basis of the useful life of the equipment; a comparison unit which compares the actual life consumption calculated by the actual life consumption calculation unit with the assumed life consumption set by the assumed life consumption setting unit; and an output unit which, on the basis of the comparison result obtained from the comparison unit, displays information relating to the amount by which the actual life consumption is greater or less than the assumed life consumption.

Equipment life diagnostic device

There are provided a rolling bearing fatigue state prediction device and a rolling bearing fatigue state prediction method capable of highly accurately predicting a fatigue state of a rolling bearing even when a direction of a load applied to a rolling bearing changes. A rolling bearing fatigue state prediction device includes a load measurement unit for determining a magnitude and a direction of a bearing load applied to a rolling bearing supporting a rotating body, a load applied region identification unit for identifying a region to which a load is applied in a circumferential region of the rolling bearing, and a fatigue state prediction unit for predicting a fatigue state of the rolling bearing based on the obtained magnitude of the load and the identified load applied region.

Provided is a rotating electric machine that combines high efficiency and high strength reliability. The rotating electric machine includes: a stator having a coil and a stator core; and a rotor opposed to the stator with a gap intervening between the rotor and the stator, the rotor having permanent magnetsand a rotor core. The rotor is configured such that the permanent magnets are buried in V-shape at hole-shaped slotsdisposed in the rotor core to form one pole, and the pole is formed in plurality in a circumferential direction. Each of the slots is an open slot partially opened toward an outer circumference of the rotor core. The slot is provided with a hook-shaped structureto support corresponding one of the permanent magnets in an open portion thereof.

A method of manufacturing is used to manufacture a magnet-free Faraday rotator having a square hysteresis loop, the Faraday rotator being formed of a bismuth-substituted rare earth iron garnet single crystal that has a compensation temperature in the range of 10 to 40&deg; C. and is grown on a non-magnetic garnet substrate by a liquid phase epitaxy. The method comprising the steps of placing the bismuth-substituted rare earth iron garnet single crystal film in an environment of a temperature at least 20&deg; C. away from the compensation temperature; and applying an external magnetic field higher than 1000 Oe to the bismuth-substituted rare earth iron garnet single crystal film so that the bismuth-substituted rare earth iron garnet single crystal film is magnetized to have a square hysteresis loop.

Method of manufacturing a magnet-free faraday rotator

A high-energy laser Faraday rotator is used in an optical system in which the Faraday rotator absorbs laser light energy of more than 20 mW. The Faraday rotator includes a bismuth-substituted rare-earth iron garnet single crystal film grown as a Faraday rotator by using a liquid phase epitaxial method, and non-magnetic substrate having a side surface on which the bismuth-substituted rare-earth iron garnet single crystal film is formed.

Faraday rotator for use with high energy lasers

A wavelength division multiplexing device which can easily utilize existing optical fibers for increasing the transmission capacity by approximately several fold mainly in a short-range information communication network, comprising, as essential elements, a pair of 1&times;N optical couplers (2&lE;N&lE;16), N light emission devices in which one of peak wavelengths thereof differs from every other one by at least 30 nm and N light receivers having optical filters having light-transmission wavelength bands adjusted to correspond to said peak wavelengths, wherein the light emission devices and the light receivers having optical filters corresponding to peak wavelengths of the light emission devices form pairs, and said light emission devices of said light receivers are optically connected to N-port-side ports of one of the 1&times;N optical couplers.

Wavelength division multiplexing device

A method is used when manufacturing a bismuth-substituted rare-earth iron garnet single crystal (BIG) film by the LPE method. The BIG film is grown on one side of a non-magnetic garnet substrate using a melt that contains flux components and rare-earth oxides. An amount of calcium is added to the melt such that a difference between optical absorption coefficients of the film at a wavelength of 0.78 .mu.m before and after subjecting the film to hydrogen-reduction treatment ranges from 660 to 1430 dB/cm. The film is grown on a non-magnetic garnet substrate having a thickness in the range of 400-600 .mu.m, at a crystal growth temperature of the melt to form a film-substrate structure. The film-substrate structure has a curvature ranging from +0.3 to +0.7 m.sup.-1 at room temperature. The film-substrate structure is subjected to the hydrogen reduction at a temperature ranging from 320 to 400.degree. C. in a hydrogen atmosphere, so that the curvature of the film-substrate structure decreases to a value ranging from -0.1 to +0.1 m.sup.-1.

Method of manufacturing a bismuth-substituted rare-earth iron garnet

A garnet crystal for growing a substrate is used in manufacturing a magneto-optic element. The garnet is manufactured by a Czochralski method and has a chemical structure represented by La.sub.8-(x+y) Yb.sub.x Ga.sub.y O.sub.12 wherein x has the range 1.0.ltoreq.x.ltoreq.3.0, y has the range 2.5.ltoreq.y.ltoreq.4.5, and (x+y) has the range 5.0.ltoreq.(x+y).ltoreq.6.5. The garnet crystal is grown from a melt prepared by heating a mixture of gadolinium oxide, ytterbium oxide, and gallium oxide in a crucible, the oxides being mixed together in a weight proportion such that the atomic proportion is La:Yb:Ga=3:p:q wherein p has the range 1.0.ltoreq.p.ltoreq.3.0 and q has the range 2.0.ltoreq.q.ltoreq.4.5.

Garnet single crystal for substrate of magneto-optic element and method

A low magnetic saturation type bismuth-substituted rare-earth iron garnet crystal film of the invention is grown on a substrate of (111) garnet single crystal (GdCa)3(GaMgZr)5O12 by using a liquid phase epitaxial method. Low magnet-saturation bismuth-substituted rare-earth iron garnet single

A BIG film for a Faraday rotator is provided with a first antireflection film on the front surface and a second antireflection on the back surface. The first and second antireflection films differ in material or thickness and therefore differ in color. The difference in color makes it possible to visually distinguish the front surface from the back surface. The antireflection films of different colors may be applied to a BIG film with a square hysteresis which retains its magnetic saturation after an external magnetic field has been removed.

Bismuth-substituted rare earth iron garnet single crystal film

A Faraday rotator is formed of a bismuth-substituted iron garnet single crystal film on which an antireflection film is formed. The antireflection film includes first, second, and third layers. The first layer is a layer of silicon dioxide. The second layer is a layer of tantalum pentoxide. The third layer is a layer of silicon dioxide. The first, second, and third layers are formed in this order from the atmosphere side on the bismuth-substituted iron garnet single crystal film. The antireflection film may be formed on both of opposing surfaces of the single crystal film.

Faraday rotator with antireflection film

A Faraday rotator is formed of a bismuth-substituted iron garnet single crystal film grown by a liquid phase epitaxial method. The single crystal film is represented by a formula: Tb.sub.3-x Bi.sub.x Fe.sub.5-y-z Ga.sub.y Al.sub.z O.sub.12 wherein x has the range 1.1.ltoreq.x.ltoreq.1.5, y+z has the range 0.65.ltoreq.y+z.ltoreq.1.2, and z has the range z.ltoreq.y. The bismuth-substituted rare earth single crystal film is subjected to a magnetization process where the single crystal film is magnetized by an external magnetic field so that the film has a square magnetic hysteresis loop. The external magnetic field has a magnetic field strength of 1,000 Oe or higher and is applied in a direction normal to a surface of the bismuth-substituted rare earth iron garnet single crystal film.
