A top sealing plate used for a battery includes a filter, a cap, and a valve body. The filter has a valve hole and upper opening; the cap has a convex portion and a flange portion disposed around the convex portion; the opening end of the upper opening of the filter has a bend portion; and the outer periphery end of the flange portion of the cap and the bend portion are caulked and joined to each other. The caulked portion includes both states of contact, that is, a strong contact portion and a weak contact portion, between the surface of the outer periphery end of the flange portion and the bend portion. By this configuration, the electric contact resistance between the cap and the filter will be greatly reduced. In addition, the contact resistance is stabilized at a low level. Further, the internal resistance of the battery is lowered, thereby improving the battery performance.

Top sealing plate, battery using the top sealing plate, and method of manufacturing the battery

A cylindrical type alkaline storage battery includes a metallic case, a sealing plate for the metallic case, and a spiral-shaped group of electrodes. The group of electrodes includes a positive electrode plate, a negative electrode plate and a separator. The sealing plate includes a cap-shaped terminal plate, which includes a cap part and a flange, and a disc-shaped filter on the underside of the flange. The disc shaped filter has a gas venting hole in its center. A safety valve is included between the flange and the filter. A space between the metallic case and the rims of the flange and of the filter is sealed with a gasket.

Cylindrical type alkaline storage battery

An improvement is provided in the shape of current collectors welded to the respective terminal edges of electrode plates projecting from the upper and the lower end plane of a spirally coiled electrode plate assembly incorporated in a cylindrical storage battery. In the preferred embodiment, the current collector formed essentially of a rectangular flat plate is provided with an I-shaped cutout hole which passes the center of the plate and ends inside the plate near to its outer peripheral edge and two of rectangular cutout parts which are approximately at a right angle to the I-shaped hole and extend from the neighborhood of the center of the plate to its outer peripheral part without intersecting the I-shaped hole, downward rib-formed projections being respectively formed integrally at the edge parts of the cutout hole and the respective cutout parts, the respective rib-formed projections crossing the terminal edges of the electrode plate and being welded to the terminal edges at a plurality of spots. Particularly, the rib-formed projection of the I-shaped cutout hole crosses also the electrode plate coiling start terminal part of the electrode plate assembly and hence can secure welding spots over a wide region in the diameter direction of the electrode plate assembly and thus permits high rate charge and discharge.

Cylindrical storage battery

A cylindrical storage battery has a spirally coiled electrode plate assembly in which the shape of the current collector welded to the end part of the electrode plate assembly and the crossing parts of the rib-formed projections of the current collector and the electrode plate terminal edges are welded with sufficient strength to permit a high-rate charge and discharge. A storage battery having a spirally coiled electrode plate assembly includes a positive electrode plate, a negative electrode plate, a separator, and rectangular current collectors, respective ones of which are welded respectively to terminal edges of the electrodes respectively projecting outward from the upper and the lower end planes of the electrode assembly. The current collector welded to the end part of the electrode plate assembly has a flat plate part provided with rectangular cutout parts, in a radial manner and with equal intervals therebetween at four places, and which extend from the neighborhood of the center to the outer peripheral edge of the plate part, and rib-formed projections which are formed integrally, bent downward, at the two opposed edge parts of the respective cutout parts and are made to cross the terminal edge of the electrode plate and are welded thereto.

A battery having a stable internal resistance with a small deviation of internal resistance, and capable of suppressing a change or elevation of internal resistance due to external impact is provided. The battery comprises a battery can having a conductivity, serving also as a negative terminal, and including an opening, a spiral electrode group disposed in the battery can, a positive plate and a negative plate wound around a separator, an electrolyte member disposed in the battery can, and a sealing member serving also as a positive terminal, disposed in the opening of the battery can through an electric insulating member. In the inner wall of the battery can, contacting with the negative electrode positioned on the outermost circumference of the plate group, plural linear bumps vertical to the bottom of the battery can are formed. The height of each linear bump of the plural linear bumps ranges from 0.05 mm to 0.25 mm, and the pitch of the linear bumps ranges from 0.5 mm to 10 mm. The negative electrode member comprises a metal core and a negative electrode material covering the surface of the metal core, and linear bumps are formed on the inner surface of the battery can, and the bumps are contact the surface of the negative electrode material.

The present invention provides a sealed battery having a large capacity by using a thin safety valve device so as to increase a volume of a cell element. The sealed battery has a high safety owing to the thin safety valve device having an elastic valve element comprising an ethylene-propylene elastomer and thermoplastic resin particles dispersed in the ethylene-propylene elastomer. The elastic valve element is produced by mixing thermoplastic resin particles with an ethylene-propylene elastomer material, molding the mixture into a predetermined shape and, at the same time, crosslinking the ethylene-propylene elastomer material.

Sealed battery

A solid state image pickup device having a high luminance signal resolution in both horizontal and vertical directions using only one CCD is realized. It is so arranged as to make light incident upon and passed through a fixed complementary color filter array subjected to a photoelectric conversion with an all-pixel concurrent readout photoelectric conversion means and fed to a luminance signal processing unit and a chrominance signal processing unit through an H memory unit to develop a luminance signal together with a first and a second chrominance signals at output terminals.

Solid-state image pickup device using an all-pixel concurrent read-out

In apparatus for generating a video special effect of making an image to see as if it were illuminated with light and changing the qualitative appearance of the image, an input video signal is stored in a video memory and read out by a reading address generated by a reading address generator. A video signal differentiating circuit differentiates the video signal read out from the video memory to obtain a dislocation quantity. An address dislocating circuits dislocates the reading address by using the dislocation quantity to produce a dislocation address. A region extracting circuit generates a region signal showing a positional relation of a pixel specified by the dislocation address and a predetermined specific region on the basis of the dislocation address. A luminance calculating circuit calculates a luminance correction value on the basis of the region signal. A video synthesizing circuit synthesizes the luminance correction value and the video signal read out from the video memory to obtain an output video signal.

An alkaline storage battery such as a sealed nickel-cadmium storage battery has an improved upper current collector tab welded to the terminal edge of a spirally wound electrode of a spirally coiled electrode assembly. The current collector tab comprises a current collecting tab and a lead tab. The current collecting tab is higher in electric resistance than the lead tab, so that the current collecting tab can easily be welded to the terminal edge of the electrode of the electrode assembly. The lead tab provides a low internal resistance to allow charging and discharging electric currents to flow easily for improved high-rate discharge performance of the battery.

Alkaline storage battery having an improved current collector tab

An alkaline storage battery such as a sealed nickel-cadmium storage battery has an improved current collector tab structure connected as a current path to the marginal edge of a spirally coiled electrode of an electrode assembly. The current collector tab structure comprises either a plurality of current collector tabs or a single current collector tab comprising a current collecting tab and a lead tab thicker than the current collecting tab. With this arrangement, the internal resistance of the storage battery is reduced, and high-rate discharge performance is achieved.
