A transformer with laminated sheet cores consists of a coil bobbin having a core hole, and a plurality of laminated sheet cores, each having a middle leg inserted into the core hole and a fixing member such as a cover fixed to the coil bobbin, receiving the ends of the sheet cores so as to prevent the sheet cores from being removed from the cover. The laminated sheet cores are fixed to the core bobbin without being pressed in the direction of their total thickness and without lowering the core characteristic. The transformer has a smaller number of the cores and can be manufactured at smaller processes.

A coil component having a magnetic core together with a coil is precisely and correctly positioned on a printed circuit board by using an automatic mounting machine, which has a vacuum nozzle (6) for lifting the coil component, and a pair of adjusting chips (7,7) for finely adjusting the location of the coil component by pushing a wall of the coil component. The coil component comprises a dielectric support (insulator) (1), a plurality of terminal pins (2) molded in said support, each having a first end (2a) along a first side of the support for coupling with an end of a coil wound around a magnetic core, and a second end (2b) along a second side which is perpendicular to said first side for coupling with an external circuit on a printed circuit board. The coil component further comprises a rectangular housing (5) positioned on the support (1) through a projection (1h) on the support (1) and a recess (5c) which engages with the projection (1h) at the bottom of the housing (5) so that external wall (5d) of the housing (5) extends beyond said first end (2a) of the terminal pin (2). Thus, adjusting chips (7) adjusts the position of the coil component by pushing wall (5d) of the housing (5) where a soldered first end (2a) does not contact with adjusting chips (7).

Coil component

The improved structure of an inductor with an amorphous sheet core and a winding has been found. A core assembly has a pair of housing halves made of non-magnetic material with U-shaped track, in which a laminated amorphous sheet is mounted. The ends of the halves are inserted in a winding so that the ends of the cores abut with each other directly or through a gap spacer. The core halves are pressed by spring action to assemble the inductor. The core halves are produced by the steps of winding an amorphous sheet to a coil, inserting the coil in the track of the housing, and impregnating the coil with plastics.
